If all other people wear sweatpants, will you do as well? By no reason.

Also very important to me is coherence: an outfit has to be cohesive and show a balanced level of formality.
I don't like and don't wear jeans (never did) and whenever I see a tailored jacket paired with jeans, it always looks off to me (the nicer and better cut the jacket the worse the combination looks).

With the same sentiment, I would never wear sneakers or cowboy boots with tailoring and a baseball cap (a la Simon Crompton) does look absolutely off and out of place in a classic attire.
