Best inexpensive jeans?

i was pretty shocked at some of the fades on the gap selvedge in the post your denim thread.

So that overgrown adolescents whose sense of self worth is tied to brand names and conspicuous consumption can demonstrate how neurotic and insecure they are. I don't waste money on things that don't matter, which means I have more money to spend on the things that do.

I'm getting so sick of people throwing Veblen around all the time to try and make a point around here. Regardless, I'm not going to make any comment on your choice of jeans, but I don't see how you can spend any time here and still not realize that "what matters" varies from person to person.

Sweet buckle, where to kop? Seriously, consider saving up the money and just getting APCs, Naked & Famous, or something comparable. I finally did, and I was upset it took me so long to make the dive.

So what does matter to you? Just curious.

I'm going to be honest: in general, the best jeans fits I see around me (myself excluded of course) are construction workers. I'm assuming they wear 501's, but they could have easily been faded glories or wranglers or whatever. They're very flattering on a normal frame.

Definitely Naked and Famous, their deep indigo ones are great for $150 and if you want some heavy denim then their elephant 2 is $165, if you are going to spend $100 then you might as well spend a little more and get something that will last. If not, then levis are good for the price...lots of colors, lots of washes, and a bunch of fits

I pray for the soul of the poor Bangladeshi kid that made those so that you could fit into $15 jeans.

Zara jeans aren't too bad if you find the right wash. Some of them look really cheap.

Wow, let's not get into foreign sweatshop labour, okay? Most people who are against it don't know a single thing about it. If you read any of the studies done by academics, economists, etc., you'd know that the general consensus among the educated is that sweatshops are unfortunate, but that literally no better alternative is possible, and that situations always improve for countries that have had sweatshops, without fail.

Ain't this thread dedicated to sweat shop labour? I'm confused...

Quality matters to me. If the Faded Glory jeans were crap I wouldn't buy them. These are comparable to Levis 505's at 1/4th the price. These do not look strange or cheap or fit poorly. They look like any other pair of jeans. Best of all, they have no logo on them anywhere.

I buy a lot of things from Walmart. Athletic socks, undershirts, T-shirts, boxers, shorts, odds and ends, and yes I buy jeans there too. All of my gym clothes come from there minus my shoes. I want to get what I pay for. I'm perfectly willing to spend more money on items if the higher price tag is justified. In the case of these items, it is not and I refuse to pay more.

When it comes to style and living, I spend my money on the things that matter. Watches, shoes, real pants, nice shirts, belts and ties, blazers. Going out to eat. Vacations to places we want to see. FURNITURE. I spend $80 to get my hair cut, and about half that much on all the products I use on it. Having a good hair cut matters. Wearing a pair of jeans that are virtually indistinguishable from every other pair except for a conspicuously placed label that says "I'm bad with money" does NOT.
