My gut tells me Garrard is just one in the line of overhyped, black, superathlete "quarterbacks" - began w/ Kordell Stewart in Pittsburgh, and followed w/ Donovan McNabb, Vince Young (who was the best coming out of college, I think), Michael Vick (who's admittedly been good - minus that whole prison thing - but never won anything), now Cam Newton, etc. They run, they throw, they can catch, yada yada yada.
I've enjoyed following Manning's career. Still got a rookie card or two stashed somewhere. Hope he blows up in Denver. Will be interesting to see how fast Broncos fans forget all about Tebow (who REALLY was never cut to be a good NFL quarterback). Arm strength, mechanics, completion percentage were all always lacking. He has an amazing spirit, and you can tell he burns to be a team leader, but he's just not cut out for it. He'll make a big/decent money move somewhere, and flame out.
Caveat - unless he swallows some pride, sits on the Denver bench and lets Manning work with him for the next few years. Sure, playing years will dwindle, but I'd bet he'd emerge a different player.
EDIT: Forgot to add Dante Culpepper to that list ^. Couldn't remember his name initially.
