Ive always liked duponts but never bought one. Im sure ill add that to the list....montegrappa is without a doubt my favorite pen though.....funny, my 2nd favorite writer is ugly, and pretty cheap...a parker sonata....but it writes better than most of my FPs.

+1 on Dupont. I've had 2 palladium Orpheos....sadly I left one on a plane. I had heard that there was a fire at the Dupont factory and they were consequently havong prodcution issues?

For a GREAT cheap pen, check out the zebra 701 - it's my favorite day to day pen.

I'm not a fan of modern day Montblancs, but probably purely for aesthetic reasons. On the other hand, I have a real affinity for accessories from the 60's and the MB's from that era I think are really fantastic. I've been using a Montblanc No. 14 for the past year as my daily writer/sketcher and I couldn't be happier. For design geeks, it has the added cache of being designed by Albrecht Graf Goertz, of BMW 507 fame.

That's a nice '60s vintage Mont Blanc, I find the modern ones way too blingy and over the top for my tastes. My personal writers are a couple of vintage Parker 51s from the 1950s and of course a nice Pelikan M800, a way better pen than the MB 146.

Ill argue this to the day I die. The MB 146 is ok. I like em well enough...but the pelikan wins when compared...every time. If you disagree, yer just a MB fanboy.

i have a visconti that i really like. not as expensive as some of the dupont pens that strike my fancy, but it writes amazing and feels substantial.

save your money, pens get lost so often, go with a $5 pilot just seems like a waste imo, also how often do you write vs type
