Facebook just added a feature similar to the circles feature on Google. Basically, you can choose who sees your status updates and things you post on your news feed.

Just stopping by to gloat a bit. I was ostracized on this thread for bashing Google+ a couple months ago. Turns out I might have been correct in spite of the great numbers of new users google+ was getting:

I also knocked google for their lack of execution on a lot of their programs and platforms. Turns out one of their engineers agrees with me:

I rarely use google plus. Even my friends on it all still use facebook 90% of the time. We'll see if it catches on with time

I've been a member of Google+ for a few months now, still not done anything with it. But then I didn't use Facebook either, was a member though.
