Kind of dig it. It's a little awkward forcing some of those circles, e.g., the difference between a "client" and "friend" and sometimes I don't want to admit I'm related to someone!!

You can create whatever circles you want and you can place someone in multiple circles.

If you want them to get both business updates and friend updates, put them in both circles. If you want them to get only sort of friendly updates...put them in "acquaintances". If you only want them to get dicktures, create a new SF circle and put them in there.

Also they don't know what circle you put them in. So that creepy cousin that no one really likes, you can put them in a different circle, and keep them out of the family one, and they're none the wiser. All they see is that you put them in a circle of some kind.

G+ seems to be coming along fairly well. I have a little more than 600 people in my Circles at the moment and more people are migrating photo albums etc from Facebook

Not too many of my real friends have migrated over but I've got a style forum circle and a superfuture cirlce that have about 200 people combined. I've enjoyed it so far.

one thing i dont' like with google plus is that it keeps putting people i know via e-mail or contact frequently via e-mail automatically in my "friends" circle.

It hasn't done that to me at all. Just suggests people on the 'Find and invite' tab. People do however add me to their circles and I get an update to announce that
