All in all I paid $125. This was for the jacket being taken in at the waist, all through the arms, the pants taken in at the waist, thigh, knee, calf, hemmed and cuffed. Not bad.

Last week I got back a pair of gray flannel Howard Yount trousers (hemmed with 2" cuffs) and royal blue Unis trousers (hemmed and added side tabs). Couldn't be happier!

Took the above advice and dropped off some oxfords for slimming in the body and a pair of Levi's cords for a slight taper. Looking forward to the results. Shirt work is a littler pricier than some others in town @ $25 per, but that includes slimming of the sleeves too, since he has to cut from the armhole.

Oh it's $25 total for side darts and sleeve slimming? That's a deal, got a Black Fleece shirt to take in

You must have gotten your tailoring back from Sylvian (European Master Tailor) by now. How did it turn out?

Me? Yes, I did. Turned out great. Shirts look really nice--mostly just some J.Crew oxfords I got cheap that i wanted to slim down. My Epaulet trousers were done perfectly. Well, not perfectly exactly--I need to get him to adjust one pair that ended up shorter than I'd like, but the work was top notch. And he did a great job tapering some Levi's cords for me.

So, mostly basic alterations, but he was very friendly and the work was top notch. He seems like he's always busy, so the lead time was on long side--nearly 3 weeks for all my stuff--but it was also near the holidays so I'm sure that was part of it.

Highly recommended.

Me? Suit turned out great the second time I came through. Never got a chance to bring in more stuff, will when i return to the states

I'm glad to hear it worked out well for both of you! I have a box full of stuff with me at work to bring to him as soon as I have a day I can take off a little early.

 

In my experience, three weeks seems to be his average turn-around time regardless of the season.

He makes bespoke footwear. I'm particularly interested in the quality of construction, materials, and finishing.

^ When was the last time you were here?

Been to Black Box (Tanner, Woodlands, Dunderdon, Blackbird)? That's a good stop. Not much fresh men's retail, but the buys at Frances May are better and better for men, and Blake seems to have added more brands to his line up (been awhile since I've been in).

Food is constantly freshening--St. Jack, Oven & Shaker, Smallwares, Boke Bowl (lunch only).

I'll try to think of more...

Boke Bowl is also open Thursday night, but I still haven't had better ramen in Portland than Biwa's. Interurban has reopened after it burned down (still haven't checked it out, though). Woodsman Tavern is really good, but make reservations unless you want to wait for a long time. Second St. Jack. Salt and Straw for ice cream if you haven't been there; excellent and unusual flavors, and their hot fudge is perfect (and real).
