Should I take a semester off school to do other stuff?

Brethren I seek thy wisdom.

Alright so fall semester starts in about 2 months. Should I postpone my return until spring 2012 and use this fall semester to work/travel/buy more clothes (I've been eyeing some cool stuff @ Barney's)/save some money? I hate working part time while going to school because I'm always on broke mode during those semesters.

Background info:
-20 yrs old
- living with parents/ pay one bill a month.

Nope. Definitely not. Just finish school first, then do that stuff.

If you are going to emphasize the travel/life experience aspect, take the semester off.

If it is only about having a few extra bucks to buy stuff, keep on plowing through school.

I always wished I went on exchange. Best of both worlds, if you can afford it.

Yeah a semester wouldn't derail me from my plans to graduate. I've got the motivation to finish that's for sure. This whole break idea was planted into my head a friend of mine who just got back from Italy and is planning on going to Australia this fall (haha do we have the same friends? )

Yeah but I wouldn't be traveling hardcore jetsetter but just visiting friends in different states and hopefully traveling abroad for the very first time!

hell yeah exchange would be super bad-a but I wouldn't be able to afford it. being broke in another country would not be the ideal vacation lol

Go ahead if you're doing a study or simply travelling abroad for the semester.

^^ERROR. ERROR.

you're right, it doesn't make sense at all. I'm thinking too much about the near future.

OK, it's set. I'm going to back to college. I've already made my schedule made for the most part.

thy collective wisdom has been priceless.

If you're like the average leisure college student you spend 13 to 14 hours a week studying. Plenty of time to goof off during school. And you have a million holidays. A whole month off in winter. Go to Australia then.

Yeah, college students do too much whining about how much work they have or how hard their work is.

really gonna depend. when i took time off from college I had the best years of my life playing music and dicking around. If you do something useful, then by all means. Life experience FAR outweighs college in my opinion. Just make sure to finish what you start though. A lot of people take time off and dont go back.
