I hate how on head-fi.org they have "Featured Sponsors" on the right edge of the screen instead of across the top. This causes the area for the messages to become too small, nearly forcing you to maximize your browser window to fill the whole screen horizontally. It appears the designers assumed everyone is running a 16x9 screen and likes to keep their browser window maximized.

I like to keep my browser window shaped more like a piece of paper or book, often placing windows side-by-side. But increasingly today many sites are using the excess horizontal space on wide screens to simply become a space for advertisements.

Unfortunately for you, the answer is yes. Whether you like it depends on how you configure your monitor space. I personally like using the right hand margin for ads. I find them less obtrusive, but also more visible. That was actually one of the things that I really liked about this new format. On the other hand, I always maximize my browser size, and toggle between applications (I find having more than one thing in front of me to be distracting.) J, on the other hand, has the same concerns as do you. It comes down to whether you prefer VB 4 (me) or VB 3 (j)

Luckily for you, there will is wrapping, so any ad units and content, the threads wrap around.

Feature suggestion: if a post is reported (x) amount of times, it's automatically unapproved until a moderator can review it. Would help cut down on spam.

We will be appointing a dozen or so "spam monitors", those posters who report a lot of spam. Instead of their just reporting spam, they will have the ability to flag posts, automatically moving them to a moderation queue. This is a big improvement on the current system, where having spam removed requires that a moderator be on duty at all times, something that clearly does not happen.

Yours is a good idea though, and I may bring it up with our development team.

Can we move the affiliate ads down to the bottom of the page? They're filling my entire screen.

I don't like the sidebar banners either, but if they must be there, it'll be less visually jarring if they're on the left side of the page.

Well if the new change does include the side banner of ads it ruins mobile browsing, which I do most of my sf'ing on.
