Also, i get an email each time I receive a PM. Additionally, whenever I log in to SF and also have a new PM, I will get notified with a pop-up.

For threads: Subscriptions (top right of the screen) -> Edit My Subscriptions.

You can also set a default for new subscriptions there.

thanks NOBD. It appears that every thread that I commented on the previous day is listed under "My Subscriptions" under the "Activity" tab. This morning, I received an email that contained the threads on which I commented on yesterday. I only want to receive email updates on threads that physically click "subscribe to this thread"

Under Edit Your Subscriptions, scroll down. Buried inside way to much text is "Default New" and a drop down. It's default is" Automatic". Change it to "Don't Subscribe" (which any reasonable design would have set as the default)

Can we have a "mega sale" sub-forum under B&S? Only allow threads with 20+ items and the same old rules apply. I know many people will frequent that sub-forum for sure.

Or how about we reactivate the B&S archive and just let the sellers choose which one they want to post in? Those people that were annoyed with bumps, etc. should be free to use the new B&S system and those who never had a problem with the old one shouldn't have to be forced to use something they don't want to.

I read recently from one of the mods that they are going to change the system and you will be allowed to post a bunch of items all with the same price (not like now that it is just $25)

things will get better and more user friendly, this site is for us to use and feel comfortable not for them to make our lives difficult.

(here is the quote from LA GUY)

Cheers,

Fok.

Here is an issue which is a big time waster on Buy and Sell.

Buyers are assuming that when they PM from a sales post that the system is telling the seller which item they are referring to. That does not seem to be the case. I am getting "Add this shirt to my order" and "Can you give me measurements?" messages which give me no clue as to what item they are interested in. This will not go away because people are assuming that it is like ebay, where if you ask a question from a listing then the item description is in the subject line.

This is probably a recipe for a complete market fragmentation/inefficiency and an eventual breakdown of use of the forum. If - after optimising/running for while - the new system turns out not be meeting the needs of users, reverting to the old one and closing the new one would be a better outcome rather than trying to run two very different systems in parallel indefinitely. Not sure, but that would be my thinking anyway.

I'm sure there are bugs that need to be worked out, and I haven't tried buying or selling anything yet on the new system, but for browsing, I personally think the new format is much, much better. I really don't get the attachment to the old system. I thought it was horrendous. It was impossible to quickly scan for items in my size that might interest me. To find stuff you had to open up multiple long threads and waste time reading through them all. I think having all the pertinent info and a picture right there is a huge step up. Not to mention getting past the ridiculousness of sellers bumping and deleting sale prices and pictures after the sale....

Overall faster site - the Mantonian lag monster we have been dealing with seemingly forever will finally be vanquished by more efficient software running on much more powerful hardware.

When? As is the site is unreadably slow (Those of us with day jobs don't have 10 minutes to spend between page loads) biggrin.gif

Is this temporary or the new way of the world? Any timeline as to when the site will be at least as fast as it was?

i always thought that was a totally useless functionality anyways. i will not miss it.

i mean, what do you need to know?
Replying to a post in the now-locked "Moving to new system..." thread -- To be perfectly frank, maintaining a higher-than-others post count in certain MC threads was one of the few motivations for me to continue to post in the MC forum now that its most knowledgeable contributors rarely post there anymore.

I still can't see any way to see the threads I've posted in which have new posts though. If I choose 'My posts' it shows every thread I've ever posted in, and if I choose 'New posts' it shows every thread with new posts regardless of whether I've posted in them. There must be some way to get an intersection of these two sets...
