Styleforum Moving to New System! - Page 15

I'm kinda confused (and apologies if this was already asked somewhere in the first 15 pages).

The new B&S classifieds section frightens me.

If we have something listed in what is now the archive, are we allowed to post it in the classifieds section, or do we stay in the archive? And I assume moving forward we should be using the "classifieds"?

"Desperately seeking mafoofan-like companion. Must have one pair of shoes and a new wallet."

We encourage you to move over to the new system. There is actually 1/2 off pricing on all packages to encourage adoption of the new system. The old system is there to allow people time to either close out their sales, or transition them over.

Cheers,

Fok.

Apparently, the search function is still "learning" all of the threads. Once this is done (will take a few days) searching will become much easier. Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Hmmm... I'll kick this one down to the developers. I don't even have a smartphone.

ah no problem. i thought it could've been something along the lines you just described. it was more of a heads-up in case anything was wonky and needed fixing.

sidenote: liking the layout. big kudos to you and the rest of the gang involved.

Would you guys please consider making the quote and reply buttons work when trying to reply in a new tab?

What I did before was this:

1. See a post I'd like to reply to, but haven't finished reading the whole thread
2. Middle-button click the reply with quote button (same as right click, choose open in new tab)
3. Finish reading the thread in case I missed something and the reply is irrelevant
4. Close the thread, write the reply in the new window

What I do now:

1. See a post I'd like to reply to, but haven't finished reading the whole thread
2. Middle-button click the reply with quote button (same as right click, choose open in new tab)
3. The new windows shows the beginning of the thread page I was on instead of the reply box
4. Cuss and swear
5. Try again
6. Swear more
7. Select multiquote
8. Finish reading the page
9. In the end reply with the saved multiquote, get roughly the same result as before

The "before" was much more useful when you needed to save a post for later or copy something from one thread to another. You could always open it in a new windows and cease thinking about it until you actually needed it. Seems like the current system is a big step backwards in that sense. Everything else looks great, good job on the smooth transition! Yesterday was a super-productive day.

How do I mark a sub-forum as read without marking the whole forum as read?

Edit - Never mind, solution found.

I'm sure the answer's right in front of me, but I can't seem to find it. How do I get the preview pic for a B&S post?

You need to use the Styleforum picture uploader.

Is anyone else having trouble with PMs? Specifically, several PMs from one user show up as "(no text)" while others sent before that work fine.

also, images no longer supported natively in tapatalk, it kicks you out to the browser which is a huge freakin boooooooo. i know a lot of work was put into this, but i feel like a lot of the basic things, the everyday things you want to do, have been ignored in favor of fluff. ie: posts have become huge, spacing is terrible, and i have to scroll more to read less.

– I miss the thread title in the post heading. To see in which thread I am (when I haven't really paid attention when clicking it, which happens to me quite often...) I have to look at the URL in the address bar of the browser. In the old forum the thread title was in the heading of every post. The post header looks cleaner this way (which is a good thing), but I do miss it.

Short cuts for previewing and posting (Alt+P and Alt+S) would be nice too. (In the old system Alt+S worked.)

– The forum is nice and fast today.

Insted of opening it in a new page with the qoute, just open the post in a new tab and then click reply...
