Styleforum Moving to New System! - Page 9

dear mods,

i just realized it got to be hard to get all the comments about the new site in this thread and the ones in trans mod too, should we merge. should we all agree to post them in one spot (not that people would listen)?

True. I tried logging into the forum on my 1st gen iPhone and there was a good 1+ second pause between typing in each letter of my username baldy[1].gif

Still, a small amount of AJAX and other JS in places can improve user experience, but this kind of heavy Javascript usage is just totally unnecessary and causes as many problems as it solves.

On the 25" browsing is much easier, but there is still a sense of too many things happening at once.

One major thing I noticed is that the context of the forum does not expand beyond a certain range and if I try to go full screen the gray area (columns) on either side just gets bigger the size of the context stays the same. Perhaps if the forum were to forgo the gray area and go from end-to-end of the browser, it would make for a more comfortable browsing experience.

I'm still learning the new features, but the ability to directly upload photos to SF is a great idea, so is the apparent lack of PM limit. smile.gif
There is a "View Forums Full Width" option in preferences that fixes that.

Clicking on the reply count for a thread no longer shows the number of posts in the thread broken down by poster.

First, thanks for all the hard work. Much appreciated.

Looks wonderful on the 15" MacBook Pro. Clean, great font, a real improvement.

Sadly, does not look as good on the iPad (mainly the ads on the right).

Other than that, great job.

FWIW, I like the new layout, even browsing from a 13 inch macbook..

This new design is good news for Unrefinery-haters, because I spent so much time trying unsuccessfully to do things that used to be routine that I'm just kind of disheartened. I also tried to do things I couldn't before, like specify sort parameters for search, only to find that the results ignored my requests to (for instance) show the latest stuff first. This would be less painful if the font was more readable. Or if the layout fit on my tablet screen.

Maybe I just need a couple of drinks. I'll try again later. Or something.
