I think you'd get better results if you posted this in the Scent of the Day thread in Health and Body. That's where most of the perfumistas hang out.
Le Male is just fine. The biggest problem, IMO, is that it's quite popular, so you smell like lots of other people. If you like that big vanilla note, then definitely check out some of the fragrances that chet31 mentioned. (The vanilla in Le Male has an extremely synthetic smell. That's not a bad thing; it's actually part of the appeal. Most vanilla notes will smell less harsh, more rounded.) Also check out By Kilian Back to Black. It's a very, very good tobacco/vanilla, although much more expensive than Le Male. (Tobacco is the other dominant note in Le Male.) You might also like Bulgari Black, which is something like vanilla and tire rubber. It sounds weird, and it sort of is, but it's very good. Also Bond No. 9 New Haarlem and Rochas Man, which are coffee scents, but very very sweet.
As for rankings: there is no consensus at all among perfumistas about the precise rank order of different fragrances. There are, however, certain fragrances that the people on Basenotes, the various fragrance blogs, and the major reviewers (Turin, Sanchez, Burr, etc.) do tend to get excited about. These are often niche fragrances--the kind you typically don't find in dept. stores--but not always. I think it's fair to say that Le Male is not one of those fragrances that perfumistas get really excited about. But again, it's fine.
Finally some summer recommendations. (These reflect my own preferences, which are a little bit idiosyncratic.) Hermes Jardin sur le Nil is the perfect summer fragrance IMO. Hermes Jardin sur le Toit, which is very new, is also excellent. L'Artisan Parfumeur Premier Figuier is a big sweet fig fragrance that's good for summer. And if you're not too shy about wearing rose scents, I'd highly recommend Une Rose, Sa Majeste La Rose, and Rossy de Palma.
