This is my first cologne and it's still not finished, but thing is, how does this cologne rank amongst the top colognes, is it up there? I also heard this was a winter cologne, if so why, and what's a good one for the summer?

Cologne rankings? Are you serious? Just wear whatever you and/or your girlfriend enjoy.

Below you can see what I am using atm. but to be honest (at least for me) GA, Versace, Hugo Boss, Burberry bla bla are all the same with like a 10-30$ deviation in the price range and then there is idk Adidas which you can buy in the supermarket xD and high-end fragrances

I find Le Male to be too strong for my taste. It suits some people better than others.

Ranking is rubbish. Just go with what you like the smell of. You're the one who has to bear with it all day.

The only use for rankings is to pick one that is NOT on the top of the lists so you don't smell like everyone else you walk pass.

Le Male is decent, if you like it because of the vanilla note, there are some others you can try. Off the top of my head Coty Raw Vanilla, Guerlain Tonka Imperiale, Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Success is a Job in New York, Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur, Burberry London, Tauer L'Aire du Desert Marocain, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille (obviously, I like and keep track of vanilla fragrances). Most of these are more expensive than Le Male. You can go to The Perfumed Court and get a bunch of vanilla fragrance samples and try them, which is what I would recommend. It's hard to find some of these in department stores to try.

This is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much. The vanilla fragrance is exactly what I was looking for too.

I think you'd get better results if you posted this in the Scent of the Day thread in Health and Body. That's where most of the perfumistas hang out.

Le Male is just fine. The biggest problem, IMO, is that it's quite popular, so you smell like lots of other people. If you like that big vanilla note, then definitely check out some of the fragrances that chet31 mentioned. (The vanilla in Le Male has an extremely synthetic smell. That's not a bad thing; it's actually part of the appeal. Most vanilla notes will smell less harsh, more rounded.) Also check out By Kilian Back to Black. It's a very, very good tobacco/vanilla, although much more expensive than Le Male. (Tobacco is the other dominant note in Le Male.) You might also like Bulgari Black, which is something like vanilla and tire rubber. It sounds weird, and it sort of is, but it's very good. Also Bond No. 9 New Haarlem and Rochas Man, which are coffee scents, but very very sweet.

As for rankings: there is no consensus at all among perfumistas about the precise rank order of different fragrances. There are, however, certain fragrances that the people on Basenotes, the various fragrance blogs, and the major reviewers (Turin, Sanchez, Burr, etc.) do tend to get excited about. These are often niche fragrances--the kind you typically don't find in dept. stores--but not always. I think it's fair to say that Le Male is not one of those fragrances that perfumistas get really excited about. But again, it's fine.

Finally some summer recommendations. (These reflect my own preferences, which are a little bit idiosyncratic.) Hermes Jardin sur le Nil is the perfect summer fragrance IMO. Hermes Jardin sur le Toit, which is very new, is also excellent. L'Artisan Parfumeur Premier Figuier is a big sweet fig fragrance that's good for summer. And if you're not too shy about wearing rose scents, I'd highly recommend Une Rose, Sa Majeste La Rose, and Rossy de Palma.

^good recs that premier figuier might be a next purchase for me since diptyque kinda stopped distributing in the country i'm moving to. so i heard. philosykos is a staple for me.

I have some experience with this, Le Male would be categorized as a club fragrance. It spreads, It's fruity, and yes women love it. But not something you would wear with a suit, so as previously suggested, Basenotes.com or Fragantica.com can help u more. A suggestion, Try something from Guerlain, like L' Instant. Good luck.

^^

Even though it smells nice this is what's keeping me from buying it.

It ranks way up there with Axe and Adidas

The problem I have with those perfume loving reviewers is that they tend to love the so called 'sophisticated' scents where there is lots going on at the same time and tend to call the cleaner, simpler (what I call lighter, more pleasant) fragrances boring, and don't rate them at all. Oh well.
