All you wear is layers of scarves and stoles anyway

the suffocation hazard is very real

responding before reading, but seeing 24 new posts in the SS thread upon logging in has me hopeful for something magical

SS should sell ok at retail although I see a lot of retailers selling it at 50-70% off with lots in stock at the end of seasons (La Garconne is an example). Maybe that's why a lot of stores like SW drop the brand (not popular enough) and the stocklist seems to keep on shrinking.

sw dropped schneider because they got TOO popular (ie, too many other competing stock lists), not because they weren't popular enough

post-read, slightly disappointed there wasn't a newly unearthed trove of wine bee cardigans though

Still don't buy that explanation, they still carry Gitman and BoO for fuck's sake. And there's less competition now, not more.

gitman and boo are about as big as it gets in midrange shirting, it's less a competition thing for them than an absolute demand one

schneider just doesn't have the name recognition/appeal to be able to sell the way gitman and boo do (I think by design, and better for the brand really). fewer stocklists this season seems to speak to that to some extent

gauging demand is weird. i can't say anything about schneider, but I was surprised how quickly stores have been selling their lemaire stuff. it's similar to schneider, a smallish company that recently has enjoyed a pretty nice upswing, but i still didn't expect demand to be as high as it was. it's like-- i live in my styleforum bubble and know fairly well how brands are received here, but out there in the wild it's a total wash

Well the stores probably also order less stock of the smaller brands like Schneider or Lemaire so it's hard to say whether the demand is truly there or if just the 3-4 people in the world that wanted the piece in that size ordered it.

mayhaps. either way, i wasn't expecting multiple stores to sell out of multiple items this early in the season

Yeah true, but Schneider did sell pretty well for them from what I recall. It was practically impossible to get most things in anything smaller than a V by the time they went to 30% off.

I was surprised too. Stopped in and talked to the dude running the store a year or so ago and based on what he said, I would've thought he was going to stop offering Frank Leder, not Schneider.

It's a shame. SW buys were usually where I procured most of my Schneider from.

part of me wishes I knew how to work rakuten/YJP the way some folks here do...the other part realizes there will never be anything in my size there

It's funny that people always say that. There are plenty of guides for proxy services and it's really not that complicated. I was too lazy to learn too, but after my first purchase realized how simple it is.

And regarding sizing, yeah a lot of the stuff is medium or smaller but that also means more people are bidding on them. So many steal prices for the larger sizes I think it's worthwhile to figure it out. But sizing past eu50 is pretty rare.
