Plus, that stubby shawl collar seems neither here nor there, and I've yet to see a good stock/store/waywt fit with it to convince me otherwise. Banding coloration is cool tho

A lot of Schneider/other "epicurean" knits have significant %'s of acrylic...

only my ploier and ss epis have acrylic none of the others do then again the former are cheaper so they keep it real at least

A little bit of synthetic fiber, like 10% or so is forgivable. Not like it's gonna cause you skin breakdown or something. shog[1].gif

^ The black and grey wool/alpaca scarf that we both have from 2009 (and Dlester too, I believe) was 50 alpaca /50wool

This season's Astor scarf is very similar in the cut and look as that scarf - it's 25% nylon

Dries, Jil and Raf also use plenty of PA/acrylic.

Examples of "plenty"?

As snake said, a little is fine and sometimes they have specific uses for it (polyamide in the metallic Jil sweaters or the techno-fabric stuff Raf does) - but in this case Schneider is just substituting to save money. I'm mostly talking about scarves.

It's not a huge deal (I bought 3 this season and they are still nice) but we are starting to get less for our money.

I didn't buy any scarves this season shog[1].gif Just curious that there's suddenly a big deal over acrylic/PA. I was under the impression that there had always been 10% or more in certain models of SS stuff. I saw quite a bit of MMM stuff this season with it but I didn't check %'s.

Manmade polymers are cheap but they are also durable and make a garment last longer

Bumping with my question:

Does Stephan Schneider wool itch?

^yes don't buy

kelvin is right, there has been an increase in the % over the years though you can still find some stuff without it
post #2623 of 3239

okey, so the rumors were right. I heard stephan schneider makes his stuff in india. that may be reason why it itches.

^good point. india is a notoriously itchy country. do not visit.
