Stephan Schneider. You'll Always Find Me In The Kitchen At Parties.

lost my old account (long story) and haven't logged in for ages but just popping in to say that project no.8 has received their Schneider shipment earlier this week in store.
some items are available in size 3s such as the black-navy coat (which is no longer ) brown lana crew-neck sweater, and a charcoal knit.
SA told me this is their only Schneider shipment this Fall
oh and lots of scarves too, a black cardi, a blanket (?) , a blazer and a couple shirts

That coat is insane, I'm jealous.

I really like it. Shoulder is 16.5 (my favoriate shoulder fit) and length is about 35 hitting mid-thighs (standing at 5"8 I was concerned the coat might be too long, maybe size 3s are designed with average Asian/Japanese height in mind)
I'll try to post some better pics later, there's a crappy pic on my phone shot when I just got it .

i really like it too, shoulder is 16.5 (my fav shoulder fit). standing at 5'8 i had been concerned the coat might have been too long; turns out the length is only 35 hitting my midthighs! (but maybe size 3s are specially designed for Japanese/Asian markets, i dunno)

Do you know if they plan to update their site with their latest shipment? Have some credit there I need to use.

I like SS's stuff, but why is it not more popular? Some guesses....

1. With an emphasis on baggy cardigans and fine wool trousers, his collections tilt strongly towards the "old man" steeze end of the spectrum. The sense of a sporty urban aesthetic is almost completely absent-- e.g. where's the denim? Relying on emaciated Hitler youth models doesn't overcome this.

2. Most customers are simply not willing to pay top dollar for high quality/unique fabrics. If you're going to charge high prices, most customers expect to receive a prestigious brand and/or edger design.

Not sure but I would imagine so. Tons of stuff arrived on Tuesday and they're still in the process of taking photos etc.

This is the kind of stupid, off the cuff analysis that makes me disregard what is said on SF. How popular do you think SS is? Vienna isn't the world and ther USA standards aren't worldwide dress rules. What's more SS is obviously a niche brand so "mainstream" popularity isn't really the issue, all it needs (and has) is a relatively small public.

^This. The brand is plenty popular relatively speaking, I really don't think Schneider is looking for more exposure than he already has. It's been in the SF spotlight for a minute but that doesn't mean nobody cared about it before that. And how popular can that kind of brand be, really ?

Nonsense. You can look through any number of lookbooks and see that there are plenty of lines that are not easy to style with jeans, and they can do just fine. I will put money down that it is not more popular because the fits are really unpredictable, inconsistent, and generally, hard to wear. If, at the end of the day, you make a beautiful jacket , but hardly anyone can pull it off, hardly anyone is going to buy it. I'm sure that he hears back from his stockists. I hope that he gets his **** under control, because he seems to be a talented designer.

Could be. But the fact that he is getting dropped by stockists is not a good sign.

Dismissive maybe but creepy? WTF Frankie???

BTW I'm not saying BB1 is the devil, merely that:

1) We don't know the state of SS's business. It is relatively available for a niche label but who knows?
2) Being a niche label it makes sense that the overall look won't appeal to the bulk of designer/luxury shoppers.
3) With that said the idea that a label has to be sporty casual to make it is thoroughly US-centric. It is in fact what many brand deplore when discussing NYC fashion week or the US market. Of course this needs to be heavily qualified as america is a HUGE market with plenty of space for niche brands otffering something else to thrive.
4) I was just in NYC and am now in some other US city and must say it's been a constant observation of mine that, outside of NYC, if someone ups the formality of their outfit (i.e. slacks, sweaters, dress shirt and maybe a jacket) they go for conservative stapples almost 100% of the time. I never see men in something like Prada, to say nothing of Schneider or Dries. Even in places like Vienna or Berlin its something I find to be relatively common.

I didn't pick up on this season until much too late. I wanted to get some scarves but everything seems to be sold out at the usual suspects.
What am I supposed to do now? HELP
