With the wheel chair he is better than most other defenders on the planet. You are entitled to your opinion of course it just is likely to be as loosely based as most of your others. Why do you do that??? Glutton for punishment??

Puyol is good, but certainly not better than Rio. I would not have picked a defender who is on a team which is not known for defense. Even today, where Rio has lost a step, he is quicker than Puyol and reads the game better.

Edit: I don't really have the time to battle it out with guys who don't know very much about the game - would engage in a little socratic method if I had time. Think about this stat before you go knocking Mr. Ferdinand, Rio has had 21 yellow cards and 1 red during his career - in all competitions. This while playing for a club known for their defense.

FTFY

Leave the drug cheat at home, he's useless and has been for a long time. I'd rather take young players as well, we're not going to win this tournament so there is no point taking players who will not be a part of the World Cup in Brazil or Euro 2016.

England must not do what France did in 2008 and 2010...

Relying on the old guards and not developing young players does not work especially when the ultimate prize is in 2 years time.

I would not agree with that. He is almost 34, yes, and he has had back issues over the last few years and he has lost a step--will give you all of those things. That said, his positioning is impeccable and his experience irreplacable. He just finished one of his best seasons. Rio is a real center half and England wil need that. You want to take Terry over Rio? Not helpful.

I totally agree with you on that. I wrote that two days ago. They should develop younger players, but you need a number of experienced players to make that happen. It is not as if England is replete with great center-backs.

Leave Terry home. He's a seedy character.

Jones and Ferdinand in central D.

England wont change the old guard. I dont think they made a very good managerial coach choice either.

Terry is not as good as he thinks..

He is a kind of Puyol without Puyol's charisma.

He is a seedy character for sure.
