Not sure why Ramos took it. Was he supposed to be a good PK taker? Why didnt Higuain go ahead? Or Di Maria??

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola says the Champions League semi-final defeat by Chelsea may force his side to change their tactics, but insists they played "exceptionally well" in defeat.
"I've transmitted this crazy theme of 'you have to go out and attack, attack, attack'," said Guardiola.
"Maybe it's a lesson for the future? We have to find the way to attack better."
The 41-year-old said he would decide whether to renew his Barcelona contract in "the next few days".
He added: "We'll talk about everything and then take a decision because it's evident that it's time to."
Guardiola has had a series of one-year contracts at the Nou Camp since first taking up the reins in 2008 and had been linked with the Chelsea job in the wake of Andre Villas-Boas's departure from Stamford Bridge in March.

Nobody wants to see a CL final without Madrid or Barcelona these days. This might be the worst final of all time and Sloth Ribery will hurt viewers because everyone will be projectile vomiting during it.

Pretty football. Don't you understand the game. Nobody care who finishes third or fourth. As a Spurs supporter a team who have always had the reputation like West Ham of playing a beautiful if mostly ineffective game I would love to have the trophies that Arsenal et al piled up over the years playing 1-0 football.

In many sports brawn and passion can overcome skill and talent and the achievements of a Bradman will be remembered long after the flourishes of a Gower are forgotten.

Normally what happens is the manager asks who's up for it, hence why Batty took one against Argentina despite never taking a penalty anywhere, ever. 5th penalty taker needs to be someone with composure because of the pressure, if your team is going second you have to score to stay in it or win it at that point.

As for Ronaldo, he missed a penalty in a penalty shootout, it wasn't a particularly bad penalty even if it wasn't as good as Lorimer. He shouldn't track back because he is so useful using his pace and skill up front and probably can't really defend well, why tire him out? Second strikers track back, poachers goalhang unless there's a corner or free kick to defend in the 98th minute. In the 90 minutes Ronaldo was good, he didn't bottle it.

No, it'll be a good one. Barca means one team defends like hell, Madrid means a different team defends like hell (unless they are both in it). I do think that the rivalry between these two squads needs a European Cup final at some point though.

orly? when i saw her walking to the PK, i almost knew it was over.

sorry for kaka that he missed a hundred percent chance three minutes before the end. imo, he shouldn't have been in the PK line up either.

IIRC it was a decent penalty and a decent save. I'd like to see it again though, at the time I just wanted him to miss and didn't care how. Probably not good enough to beat a German keeper, but then the Germans always win when it comes to penalties.

Tough because I would have believed Real would win the game and get themselves clear but once it went to PKs it was going to be Bayern.

Ribbery is unpleasant to look at but his football is good. His accomplishments off the pitch are surely greater than those on the pitch.

imo, Real dropped it in munich already.

i dunno how somebody with a clear mind plays towards a PK against a german team. this never pays off. despite euro final 76, where a man named Uli Hoeneß sent the ball in the nightsky of belgrad. it's the mother of gallery shots.

the kneeing mou is probably a picture which is burnt onto my harddisk. no mercy at all.

I'd unfortunately have to agree. And in addition so many players missing the final? They need to wipe cards out before the final and give people a chance to play. This rule is stupid, they need to adjust it. In general I agree 2 cards misses a match but not the final. What are there, like 8 players missing the game?

Its likely that the final will be a snorefest. I dont see either team as being entertaining and its likely to garner very low ratings.

i don't know about worst final ever but it certainly was, for me, the least desirable outcome of the semis. i'm still laughing at madrid's atrocious PKs but with chelsea missing 4 including captain and bayern missing 3 starting defenders it might just make for a more open match with didier and ribery/robben unimpeded ! who knows, though i'll now throw my support behind bayern and the bundesliga's hypersocialist financial regulations rather than the crony capitalism of chelsea and the sugar daddy trying to buy his way to european glory biggrin.gif

as to those making fun of ribery's appearance i guess with all that cash he could certainly have operated by like tevez elects not to, at least he keeps it real.
it really comes off as classless and pathetic but carry on foo.gif
