I think Mou's got it on Pep for now. Guardiola did basically inherit the side constructed by Rijkaard, although he's milked them for so much more. I think Mourinho's versatility in conquering various leagues, building clubs up from nothing to be successful (Porto, Chelsea, Inter, ... not so much Madrid) makes him the superior candidate. No matter where he goes or what he starts out with, all he does is win. If Guardiola can go to different leagues and be as successful as he has been w/ Barça, then I'll be the first to say hands down that the guy is a better DT. When you have a team full of world beaters, it's easy to be seen as the best manager (in reference to that photo by embowafa). Any team w/ Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Fabregas would succeed. That's probably the most potent midfield/attack since Brazil of the 70's. But could Guardiola go to a team in a lower tier league - maybe France, Holland, etc. and build a team up to win the CL ala Porto? PSG? Ajax? I don't see that happening. Guardiola is successful because he works the Barça system, with the youth team coming in, having an established system. Mourinho is
the system. Both work differently.
And for that mention above, SAF is an amazing manager - for longevity's sake, if only.
