Just curious what everyone here thinks. I know there are a lot of iPad love in here but I really don't want to hang around an apple store everyday for a chance to get one.

Anways, I've actually been looking for a netbook for like a year now but it seems pointless now with all the tablets in the market. I am considering the Galaxy Tab 10.1, just the 16GB WiFi ($500) for simple browsing the webz and viewing movies and to take on vacations and such.

I just wanted to get opinions, suggestion, etc... Anybody thinks it's worth it?

Any help or comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Can you hold off until the 4th of July? The HP/Palm tablet will be out 7/1 and the reviews should all be out by the 4th. I think that's the best competitor to the iPad at this point if it turns out to be well made. WebOS was made for tablets.

All the Android tabs are in their infancy at this point, and until IceCreamSandwich comes out, none of them will really be able to differentiate from the others in anything other than slight hardware details.

Is that release date pretty solid? Also any specs or link for more info, like size, weight, price, etc...? I really do not want to spend more than $500 if possible.

Not true in my area, looked up on several BBs and none of them carry it. I even tried the iPad 1 and all are sold out of the wifi only version. They had one ipad 1 w/ wifi and 3g but I don't need 3g so it feels like a waste.

Now I think tablets and netbooks are different classes devices with different uses. I can quite happily use a netbook, because they have a real keyboard and are not dependant on another computer to get content on or off of them. I could use a tablet for a bit of armchair browsing, but that would be about all I would want one for.

Android is a good mobile OS, I have an Android Samsung Galaxy S phone but I don't really need a larger version of the same thing I have to carry in a bag.

Others have suggested HP tablets with WebOS. Reviews seem to indicate this might be OK.

Anyway that's my thoughts and opinions on tablets.

Thanks for the opinions Mike and appreciate the links Rambo. I guess I'll wait 2 weeks to decide between the Samsung, HP and Apple.

While the iPad 2 seems like the industry standard, I really do feel that I need something better or at least something different since I already have an iPhone and an iTouch. I feel that the iPad 2 might be redundant but if the Samsung or HP doesn't measure up well, then I'll try and get an iPad 2.

Also, the Apple website states 1-2 week delivery time and I have a trip coming up in 3 weeks so I really do not want to cut it that close. Plus I really rather pick it up at the store, I hate waiting for shipping since I still have beef with FedEx.

try the samsung, but dont hang on to it if there is something you dont like.

i personally think the ipad2 is the best choice these days but something diff could be fun, check cnet's match up of the two... usually most things are a distant second to the ipad.

worst case scenario you can return the thing right?

I tried watching YouTube vids in HD on both the Galaxy Tab and iPad 2 and the Galaxy Tab was just so much faster. I doubt it was a connection problem, when I played the vid on the iPad 2 it ran smoothly until I clicked it in HD version and it didn't load up at all. Somewhat disappointing.

To be completely accurate, the iPad created the standard. Before the iPad was released, everyone was like, iPad? wtf?
