Regarding the dearth of navy, Suitsupply is weird like that. They do not even sell a navy blazer, at least not in this season's collection.

Probably will have to pass on the Napoli. My shoulders just wont fit...

Looking at the York, since we are both 36 in the Lazio, would you recommend sizing down for the York (they only have size 34 available). The measurements are about the same, less than 1".

Slimmer is better....Thanks!

I think you've already eliminated it at this point, but I just wanted to add that I have the London, and it is probably the least suitsupply-ish of suitsupply suits. That's actually what I like about it, but it's probably not what you're looking for. With the Napoli, I would have to size down so far to fit the shoulders properly that basically nothing else would fit.

how are the trousers on London/ York? the rest, from what I've seen or read in this thread... seem to have issues... like the slim but no taper issue mentioned above.

Hi there. I ended up with the York plain blue because I wanted a staple navy suit, and the Napoli plain blue was pretty far from that. I've never tried the Napoli navy in person though. The York also felt less restrictive when moving around. The lower button stance is also nice, but I can't say it's very noticeable. I'm pretty happy with it, but I sometimes wish it was slightly more blue, but true navy is almost black.

For what it's worth, the size advisor was correct with the York (46). For the Napoli, it recommends 44, and what I'm wearing I the pictures is a 46. It definitely has broader shoulders than the York. I'm thinking of buying a charcoal suit, so when the time comes, I'll get both 44 and 46 to compare.

In other pics, you may notice the sleeves are a bit wide on me, bulge at armpits, etc that I couldn't seem to fix -- Spalla seemed great from the start, and only small alteration was at neck. This was a good lesson for me that fit is indeed king, not make / brands Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Again not sure if you'll see much diff from my crappy pix of both suits!

Many thanks TF - very interesting pics; have to agree with you on fit. Was curious though how you think, quality and feature wise, Spalla compares to some of your other suits.

Interesting read, can't wait to see the pictures of the final product! Wish I had a Suit Supply store near to get access to their MTM program! (EDIT* Suit Supply is planning to open a store in Montreal - 2 hours away from my location - in F/W 2014-2015).

Sorry to interject with a stupid question, but to all of you considering this York , might I ask why you consider a suit with linen to be a staple suit?

It's a staple summer suit. Depends on whether you'd like to dress seasonal or not.

That I understand. But I think there were some people doing the "hey I don't own a navy suit" thing.

Great read!

I'm so glad there's three different SuitSupply stores within an hour or so from where I live, will definitely give MtM a try.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

I assumed they'd buy the linen one now, and will be buy a flannel one in the fall. If they're planning on using it as their only navy suit they're better off getting some 3/4-season worsted wool.

Hi all!

Currently thinking about getting a Lazio or Napoli suit. This will be my first suit. I know that I'm typically a 40R (I have tried on quite a few suits and own a jacket in that size but not matching pants). What size would you guys recommend? I think a 38R for both would be right, based on the size charts. My measurements are:

Height: 73"

Chest: 37"

Upper waist: 34"

Lower waist: 35"

Unfortunately I can't go to a store (I'm in Ireland). Thanks for the help!

edit: I am 78 kilos, 170lbs

Just received the wool/linen havana in blue, perfect spring fabric. Tried to get the color
of the jacket as accurate as possible in the images. It's great shade of blue, less loud than whats on the website.

Looks great! Will you link me to that exact jacket? Thanks.
