Great material but color is really, really brown. In person doesn't have the same contrasts.

I'd be interested as well, was just considering picking up some items from SS - good thing I decided to browse SF first.

Might still cop this http://eu.suitsupply.com/suits/suit-navy-plain-sienna-p3467/P3467,en,pd.html?vpid=P346701 to try it out. Sounds like the Napoli is an interesting fit for most people, so might avoid that for now.

Well I'm not willing to fly over there unless I can't find some obliging local SF'er that would be willing to make some coin.

Surely someone is keen on going in there, taking some photos with the prices, doing some QC to make sure the items aren't damaged and the pants match the suit, etc etc - then bouncing them on to others.

Would pay either a per-garment or hourly rate for one's time.

If suits are at 100-200 euro each, and sports coats at 29 euros each, as mentioned in the thread previously, I'd be buying quite a few pieces.

I will keep you guys posted about my trip to Roermond.

Sportscoats are priced between 29-99. It's a little random, as they might be 99 one week, and the next week they're suddenly 29.

99 EUR is only $140 AUD. Seeing as how most SS sportscoats in Australia are priced at $380+, that's nearly 3 for the price of one!

Generally, a proper linen suit should feel quite a bit lighter and less "substantial" than a wool suit (even compared to a tropical wool). Too many of today's linen suits, IMHO, are heavy overbuilt things with overly stiff fusing and heavy half canvassing and full linings. The worst example of this is the BB Gatsby Collection white linen suit; nice looking and built like a tank, but I'd die of heat exhaustion wearing it. I think many people assume that if it feels lightweight that it won't last; Linen is deceptively durable, outlasting lightweight wool fabrics in my experience.

The SS Lazio Blue Check, that I bought, got it mostly right with regards to construction (decent for a 600 dollar suit). I think they should have ditched the full lining, but at least the weight of the thing isn't overwhelming. Overall build quality (stitching, buttonholes, hems) is good but not great.

The blue cotton-silk Copenhagen. Obviously won't be as cool wearing as a linen suit, but close?

right on i meant it could've been the model that i had but it was fraying at the edges oh going back to the "potential" maybe proxy? maybe it's possible to e-mail them beforehand and get the model number?

According to their measurements all the shorts are "portly" cut. The waist size on the pants is larger on 36s compared to 36r. Their website doesn't really seem to do as well with 36s measurements, but you can see the comparison between 38s and 38r.

If this proxy happens, i'm in.

Jacket & suit arrived in the post today (bought at SS & let them do the alterations and post the completed items to me):



Obviously, jacket isn't paired with what I'd normally wear with it; I just tried it on over what I was already wearing, to check the alterations were done right and then figured I'd take a snap for this thread.

The suit is also from SS, a Napoli model. The right sleeve isn't that twisted IRL, by the way, (although it does admittedly have a much more minor torque); it's catching slightly on the front of the jacket. I'm also not standing straight-on, so apologies for the distortions that introduces. Nonetheless the snaps should still give you an overall idea of the items, and maybe a more realistic one than the website photos. They're altered to my personal preferences, which is a more traditional/longer cut than other people might want and with sleeves about the same length as my shirt cuff when standing normally, so bear that in mind. Alterations were to slim waist, shorten sleeve length & shorten jacket length (slightly only) in the Havana, and slim waist, slim sleeve taper (but not shorten length) & shorten jacket length in the Napoli.

Size on both is 34 (I'm usually a 36S that still requires some minor alterations in most slim brands, so had to size down for SS). Overall, I'm very happy with these. Obviously, compared to my bespoke, the fit is not as good and the construction is simpler, and even compared to higher-end RTW, the fabrics are not as luxurious. But when you're buying such inexpensive items, you have to be accept compromises, and frankly, I'm very happy indeed with the items and the whole purchase experience. I'll be back for similarly occasional/seasonal pieces in future, I'm sure. Good brand.
