I have 5 or 6 Havanas by now... my favorite cut. Works well if you have relatively broad shoulders/slim waist.

They do run a bit short and the button stance is about 1" too high IMO.

Though the last Havana I got in (white/grey lambs wool from Fall Season) does seem to be a bit longer with bit lower stance... havne't measured though.

Question is whether sizing up from 38R to 38L is a good thing based on measurements provided online. 38L is longer in the sleeves and body, and slimmer in the chest and waist, which is ideal. The length more appropriate in terms of a jacket following traditional cuts (I am trying to avoid short jackets/fashion forward styles).

Also, does anyone own a Havana style jacket and can say or show how high or low the buttoning stance is?

I am only 5'9 FWIW so I cannot imagine the jackets being that short on me.

Gettoasty - look back a few pages to where I posted a 38R and 38L of the Havana. Then look back 3 days to see what I said about the jacket that was just delivered, which has a similar observation to what Rincon said. For reference, I am 6'1" and prefer the Long.

The Havana is definitely trimmer in the midsection. I wear a size 32 pant; while my stomach is a touch larger than it was a few years ago, I'm not chubby by any means, but if I put on any weight in the midsection I may have to let out the jacket a little, or size up to the 40. This is one of these jackets where if they offered a 39 it would be perfect for me. Hope that helps.

did someone state a few pages back that havana is the single breasted equivalent of soho? how true is this? and does anyone know whether the same principle can be applied to other pairs?
Appreciate the comments, I found timotunes photos as well via Google and I may be swayed to still try out the 38L. I will stick with the Havana cut.

Did you guys have any trouble wearing the navy jackets offered with black oxfords? I am trying to pickup 1 to 2 jackets that are versatile enough for standard black and brown shoes.

Hi guys, new to the forum and to suit supply.

Tried the Washington fit in the Vigo street store in London and I really like the fit so I have ordered a the charcoal herringbone. Is there ever a block colour like plain navy, blue etc in the Washington? All the colour variations seem to have some level of pinstripe or herringbone bar one or two light greys.

Also in terms of sport coats/jackets how does the fit of the Havana compare to the Washington-half? Washington 40 fits spot on but Napoli jacket in 40 would need taking in around the lower torso and waist area but shoulders are fine. On this basis not sure if 38 or 40 would suit better in Havana. I do like a close to the body fit.

Thanks

The washington seems to frequently come in a solid navy, and theres currently a solid med gray flannel. In my experience the havana fits quite a bit larger than the washington, so sizing down may be a good idea, but im not confident enough in that to tell you to order one without trying on a 38 first.

So, how tall are you and how did you manage to get the buttoning point lower? Also, black or brown oxfords? Can't tell on the iPhone

what do you guys think about this jacket? http://us.suitsupply.com/jackets/jacket-blue-plain-boston-c565i/C565I,en_US,pd.html?start=33&cgid=Jackets

Is it on sale for 149 or are there cotton jackets always 149?

Do the Havana's patch pockets (or anything else about it) make it a little too casual for officewear?

Depends on the office of course, but I think it would be fine in all but the most conservative offices, unless you are considering something with an extreme pattern.

Obvious answer, but it depends on your office. For the average office, in this day & age, should be fine. But only you know your own workplace.

Posting to this thread to say that I finally got a chance to wear one of the Suitsupply suits I bought a few weeks ago, and as real-life fit pics are generally found useful here, thought I'd link you to the photo in the photo in main WAYWRN thread.

I wear my Havana's to the office a lot. My coworkers wear JosBanks and Brooks. No one has ever made a comment about the patch in a negative way. My 2 cents.

I think it looks like a blue cotton DB blazer. On sale. "What do you think" is too broad. do I think it would be good for a job at McDonalds? No. Do I think my boss will wear it? No. Would a dog like to roll around on it? Maybe. What are you specifically asking?

Um, why didn't you try on the Havana in the store instead of asking anonymous people on the internet later? I remember seeing Havanas in the London store a year ago. The Havana fits close to the body. Please look at all of the fantastic discussions that were held about that model about 40 posts ago.

I have never seen the Washington with the same amount of "staple" fabrics as say the Napoli, but they do pop up from time to time. Much less Washingtons featured in the F/W collection.

@ gettoasty - spoilers please.

@CousinsDonuts

Um because I wasn't aware of the style at the time and only say it online subsequent to my visit. Is this acceptable to you? Do I have permission to ask any more questions your highness?

Also thank you for re directing to a discussion 40 pages ago, normally I would appreciate this help however the general tone of your response seems to suggest that I was too lazy to sift through all 114 pages to check if there was a discussion. There is no need to respond to my posts, to those that do, in a helpful manner, as I would expect from a civilised forum, thank you.

I wear my Havanas in a mid-size law-firm and to court, no problems here. A well fitting Havana looks quite sharp.

Regarding SS's line-up: Did they ever sell a Tweed jacket? They have a Harris Tweed bag in stock, but no jacket, sadly.

Civility does not always exist in anonymous web settings. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I said 40 POSTS ago, not pages. Should take you all of 5 minutes to skim the last 200 posts really. There is also a search function - within the thread and broadly on SF.

If you had added "After visiting the store I discovered the Havana online. I am bummed I missed them in the store. Would anyone know how they fit compared to the Washington?" then we would have enough context to realize you actually made an effort, and we could reward you with the knowledge you seek.

Instead, I am being a dick because there is a shitload of great information in these pages. It is tiresome to constantly regurgitate the same info over and over. You want to see some real dickhead responses? Start a new thread about what you should wear to your buddy's wedding. Better yet, post that question in the WAYWRN thread along with a picture of you wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

(I did answer your questions by the way).

Carry on.
