Havana and Washington fit in a 46L. Mainly looking for odd jackets.

Also If you see any 46L/44L in a different cut please let me know. I can always check with a SS rep to see if they would work and might take a chance on it if the price is good.

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to get some fit feedback from you all. I'd love to get your opinion on whether 1 of the following 2 suits could be a good starting point to be tailored to a good fit. Please excuse the other aspects of the outfit, as I'm starting from scratch to build up a wardrobe.

Napoli 40R: Sleeve needs lengthening by 1/2-3/4" inch. I would also need to see if the pant legs could be let out a little, as it's too tight. Otherwise, the jacket may be a tad too short and of course the pants need a hem.















London 40R: Even though the measurement is only different by 0.7 inches, do the shoulders seem to small compared to the Napoli? Pants fit much better, but still I'd like to let them out in the legs a smidge.














Any thoughts would be really helpful. If these don't work, I might try a Lazio in 42R, but am worried the birdseye isn't quite a staple fabric.

Napoli shoulders and chest look better, but the London has a nicer button-stance and length.
Either way, I'd try a Long model. Sleeves are too short(seems like you need 1.25"-1.5" longer sleeves), and jackets are also on the shorter side.

I think a 40L Napoli would look nice. The buttoning-stance will probably be a bit lower, sleeves and length will be much better.

I agree with trying 40L Napoli.

Yea a 40L in Napoli would be a great starting point for tailoring. As for how much shirt cuff to show, I am probably in the minority in showing more than 1/4" but not nearly as much as you are showing in your pictures.

Definitely go with the 40L...I initially bought a 42R for my first Napoli and when I bought my second, I decided to try 42L. Definitely drapes much better on and apparently Long sizes are slimmed more than the Regular cuts so there was less alterations to be done. When I pick up my suit from the Madison Ave store this Friday, I'll be sure to take pictures for fit differences

I have just got myself a shipment of the Sienna in plain blue (EU size 44) and a Washington grey in EU size 46. The Sienna is too small, and frankly I ordered it "just in case" since my previous shipment of Washington in EU 48 was too big.

Now to the Washington 46. The jacket fits quite good but the pants are somewhat tight in the hips, I can still wear them but it does feel tight when sitting down and I imagine squatting would risk the pants. The 48 pants were perfect, just jacket too big. My question is how much can an experienced tailor increase a pair of suit pants in the circumference? The 48 Washington pants are 77 cm in circumference and the 46 are 73 cm. I imagine at least 2-3 cm should be doable for an experienced tailor. What do you guys think?

It seems like the jacket is a bit small as well. You can increase the seat/waist by the amount of extra material that's available in the seam. Measure how much bigger you'd like your trousers to be and how much extra material is available.

Thanks for the critique. The jacket is on the smaller side of the spectrum indeed, and is somewhat tight in the shoulders. But not a lot.
The 48 jacket was a bit too big, especially around the armpits. The size 48 fit can be seen in this album:

The extra material available is about 0.5 cm. So I expect 1 cm on each side, so at up to 75 from current 73 cm?

A bit less than that, as you still need material for the hem. The size 48 looks much better. Just have your tailor take in the waist a tiny bit. Btw, that pose with your hands up really doesn't tell us anything, and it puzzles me why people continue to include it.

Hmm.. I'll consider this. On another forum I they said it was too big in the armpits and that they thought ordering a smaller size would be better. Now that I think about it I think you're right. I'll gladly take further critique and think about it for some day.

You mean too big in the chest? Or that the armholes are bigger? The chest is better in the bigger size. It seems like your lapels are bowing a bit in the smaller size, and it looks like it's a bit too small in the waist as well, causing the button to pull.

How does the smaller suit feel? It shouldn't be skin tight or feel restrictive. Ultimately, it's up to you, as it's always hard to tell the exact fit from a couple of pictures. It's better to have a suit that's slightly too big than to have one that's slightly too small though.
