What's strange is that the La Spalla Jacket I purchased has a distance of 1.75" off the rack, so adding another 1/4" is going to make it 2". If the norm is to have the distance be between 1 to 1.25", why does the La Spalla have 1.75" off the rack? Does it look strange already and will it look worse if I let the sleeves out? The pics are how it is off the rack.

If you're that concerned you could have your tailor add another button.  You should have an extra button inside jacket and also interior waistband button can be swapped out with any button, as no one sees it.  I've had a jacket's sleeves extended by 1/4" - 1/2" and never thought about it again.  Someone might notice someday.  Would I be mortified if they did?  No.

I would be more concerned wearing a sport coat with flap pockets.  That wouldn't work for me.

Hi gents,

I have 2 questions, and sorry if this was elaborated elsewhere, I couldn't find definite answer.

1. Suit-up personal tailoring service, how does it work? For example, I have a cut that I like, can I use it as a baseline and then choose fabric, details (also, what styling details can be asked) etc. and if so, are all their cuts available in this service, or only some of the selected cuts?
2. I have one Jort summer jacket I bought this year, but now looking for a suit with similar jacket cut, but with more classic details (like flap pockets). Is La Spalla similar or same as Jort cut wise, or am I wrong here?

I'd really appreciate any clarification.

Thanks

G.

Is that because a sports jacket is supposed to be more informal, but flap pockets are typically associated as being more formal? Is it considered to be a fashion faux pas?

It's personal preference I guess.  I've been brainwashed by SF.

How much shorter are the Havana and hudson compared to the lazio?

I am a 38r but the website says all 3 styles are the same length.
Same length for both true. Difference is in styling on pockets, thinner lapel on Havana, Un-padded shoulders. Havana and Hudson work very well as seperates, love them as suits. My last Hudson on brown flannel just makes me feel at my best, even though the 16th SS - including 2 Jorts. Difference with Lazio is attitude an mood, not fitting

I'll measure mine when I get home. I believe in 40r, my size, the lazio is about an inch longer.

Just a heads-up for those of you that need long sizes ... Ordered a Jort in 42L and it measures an inch shorter than the measurement given on their sizing table. If you measured it from the top of the back collar it would be correct, but as we all know (and as the SuSu diagram depicts) the measurement should be taken from the bottom of the collar. Sent it back and I got another one with the same measurements. Has anyone had a similar issue? If SuSu doesn't work out, I'll have to resort to MTM suits and sportcoats, because no decent label makes a jacket that will cover my ass.

for those that own or have decent experience with both the jort and hudson ......

are the shoulders even remotely close in terms of construction/appearance ?

The Hudson is not as well done, the pleated shoulders on my Jort definitely look a lot better. I still love both but my Jort even more.

The Suit-up personal tailoring service is a MTM program. They work from their MTM fit, not a RTW fit.

The La Spalla is the same in terms of fit, yes.
