Bradford, you really should not listen to Poly. Forget whatever kinda "scene" the Edison is, the interior is jaw-dropping. I'm a fan of that era of LA so I could give two shits if there's an Ed Hardy dude next to me trying to order a cosmo or if the cocktails blow. Have a beer and enjoy the atmosphere. It's also really, really cheap at happy hour for certain specials.

my friend put a drink down on one of the pianos in the edison. they were not happy.

I'll say I never have a good time there because of the crowd. It's a terrible scene and the line down the block never helps. You have a ton of really really bad frat heads (and I use that in the worse sense, even though belonging to a frat really means nothing) that have straight up groped my friends (this has happened more than once) and me almost being involved in fights twice because of it.

It's one thing that a punk kid like you goes there, it's another when a dude dressed like Bradford goes there. And it sounds like you go when it's busy. I always make a point to go early, happy hour if possible, just to avoid lines and waits. I've never gone when I've had to put up with that or that crowd, so it's not like the place is guaranteed to have a crowd straight out of AC 24/7. Plus, I don't know any other joints that have shit like Lucent Dossier or period music, so... Go back to Joy Luck Club with all your hipster friends and let this guy get five minutes in an interesting place downtown.

OK - headed to The Edison for a little while tonight after grabbing dinner at Pizza Urbano. For real this time. My coworker didn't want to walk that far last night so we hit up The Standard Rooftop Bar, Varnish. The Association and The Falls Bar last night. I won't be staying too late but I'm wearing a blue buttondown, khakis, topsiders and a red and blue surcingle belt. I expect that I'll be there around 7:30.

Hey, I'm back in Sacramento now, but I wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. I hit up Varnish, The Association, Falls Bar and The Edison during my trip. The Edison was far and away one of the coolest places I have ever seen. I probably missed the real douchebag crowd because I was there on Wednesday and Thursday nights and the crowd and the place were great - a real old Hollywood movie type of experience!

If I'm in LA again, we really need to do a forum meetup at The Edison - one of the few places you can feel comfortable going out in a suit biggrin.gif
