Hobnailing F&B 745's and a good Cobbler in DC??

Hey everyone,

So, I'm sure many of you out there will come looking for me to burn me at the stake after reading the title to this thread but,

I recently purchased/won a pair of Fiorentini & Baker 745 workboots, new (worn once but too big) without box on ebay for just under $200. I have been looking to get a pair of stylish boots that either already have, or to be, hobnailed, Iron heeled and toe tapped. Am I nuts? Likely. but I dig the style and the versatility of a boot having these features for some serious wearing (and some good, hard love of course!)

I realize this style is very dated but it seems like it maybe making a comeback (note, Grenson & Rag Bone's Hob Nail Boot collaboration here: http://2feetunder.com/other-footwear...collaboration/ )

Anyway, I'm looking to see what people here think and additionally, whether you like the idea or want to kill me for it, tell me, and then please recommend me a good (no.. a GREAT) cobbler in the DC area if you know of one to go and speak to about doing the work.

Thanks everyone for any and all input!

Are you going to wear these in ice and snow? If not, I can imagine they'd be treacherous on pretty much any other surface except dirt, possibly destroying the finish on concrete, wood, tile, etc. Plus you clack down the street and people would look around wondering where the horse was.
