its athletes usually young from 15-20's that suddenly die from HCM (hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy). the thing is athletes naturally can have enlarged hearts (hypertrophy) due to their training - so even with a chest x-ray you can only assume that their enlarged hearts are due to the training. and even with an ECG you will still see lowered and even erratic heart rates due to their training. its just not practical to do all the diagnostics (24hour monitoring/mri/ecg/chest x-ray) on all HS athletes to figure out who has HCM.

someone like Kevin Durrant is the classic marfan's description.. they suffer more from aneurysm type injuries (think tears in their major blood vessels leading to and from the heart) because of defect(s) in molecular levels of their connective tissues in vessels.
