yeah i went in when they first got their first shipment in for that furry reversible vest in green/tan but they only had it in black/black, and when i asked they said the only guys getting the green one were The Bureau.

You'd think with them being home base and the factory above them and everything that they would get full runs.

Abdul said they focus their stock on what people in New York will come in and buy. Who the hell is buying all that Needles stuff then???

yeah and since when are the their major clientele in NYC not include XS? everyone in nyc buying this stuff is gonna be on the smaller side, and if they are not, there are plenty of online places that cater to the bigger crowd

I agree, and they should make a online store that ships worldwide...

Nah, then everyone would wear EG and I'd have to move on....seriously, part of being a niche/exclusive/whatever brand is keeping consumers on the hunt and keeping the flame of desire fully stoked.

Don't delude yourself dude, none of these brands are that exclusive, and comparable to others EG is extremely accessible. I'm not saying I don't love it, but don't think it's impossible to find. I also am over-exposed to it being in NYC.

Uhm... before Nepenthes opened, it was indeed impossible to find non-boring EG (aka, Odin, Barneys and Stuart & Wright selections) in NY. EG's collections are gigantic (you constantly see new prints/versions coming up on dicexdice and secondstage) and the bros at NepenthesNY probably do their best to carry as much as they can (they said they do). This summer they had everything (or almost everything)... sometimes carrying a total of two pieces of the same item, but still... they had it (for a day or something).

True, there's a lot of EG out there (and you think you're over-exposed -- i work around the corner from Nepenthes!), but their distribution is calculated to really spread the brand pretty thin. Nepenthes does get all the exotic stuff, but they sometimes don't get the basics that places like Context and Drinkwater's stock (and they stock what they know will sell, as they should).

By "exclusive" I sort of meant to say that EG still maintains an insiders' feel.

Of course, whether it actually is an "insiders" brand or not depends on what circles you travel in...
