Do you have anything from Solito?

I got one suit in before he fell off the face of the earth. I really like it.

Love the fit / styling. Even with just two fittings, he probably out-shone everyone else I tried in that respect.

Construction quality isn't quite as high as NSM but there are no problems with the quality.

I would have ordered something else when I was in Napoli last spring but they didn't respond to any of the emails I sent to all three addresses I could find for them.

Hey guys, in December i will be travelling to Naples to have a bespoke suit made. I have read a lot about the different tailors and I have narrowed my options down to Solito or Pirozzi. Could you give some advise please, in terms of the difference between the finish/quality as well as the difference in house styles please? I saw both masters' jackets in London, and I must say i thought the finesse in terms of finishing of the Pirozzi seemed to be a little better.

Help to decide between the two will be greatly, greatly appreciated!

I have seen coats from several top Neapolitan houses (and have tried, and been dissatisfied, with a couple myself). Solito is unreliable when it comes to dealing w/ foreign clients (and I'm being VERY diplomatic when I say that).

No experience with Pirozzi, but I would personally go with either Gennaro Paone or Renato Ciardi.

Differences in finishing quality at this level are of very marginal importance, to my mind. You are going to be wearing your clothes, not studying the stitches. Fit, style, chemistry with your tailor, etc., are far more important.

Also, as others point out, Solito has proven unreliable when dealing with foreigners. That would be enough reason to cross him off my list, regardless of how great the clothes might be.

Thanks so much for the response guys. @mafoofan you are right, i won't be studying the stitches! but i was wondering if you guys could comment perhaps a little of the difference between the two shapes/styles.

@Grammaton Cleric , do you mind elaborating a little more in a PM maybe, why Solito's proven to be unreliable when it comes to foreign customers?

I was thinking it should be fine since i'll be travelling to Napoli for measurement and first fitting in december, and he says that he'll have it for second fitting by january and it would be really by february. seems pretty reasonable to me!

Thanks a lot once again guys(: really appreciate it!

Agree with foo about the finishing. Should be a low priority. As long as it's above a certain level (which Solito definitely is) the focus should be on other things.

If you're going to Naples, you will probably be fine. That is, if you have time to get fitted in Naples. If you go there to order but expect to see him in another city, I wouldn't count on it. He hasn't been to New York since March 2011. He's announced a few trips since, but hasn't made it. I still hope to see him again but I really have no idea if I will--that is, unless I go to Naples again, which I am considering.

I love the clothes, but the service has been frustrating.
