Constant relocation for my job--any advice?

Just graduated from college and I accepted an offer with a public company for a leadership development program. It's rotational, meaning I'm going to be in (likely) in 2-3 different locations in the U.S. within two years. So I'll be moving and relocating often.

Does anyone have any general relocation advice, especially since I'll be relocating every six months to a year? It's going to be a serious pain in the ass.

yeah, I did that for a good part of my life. I am guessing that you are single - the absolute best thing is to go with furnished studios, if you can. then you keep an obsolute minimum of possesions. clothes, an ebook reader, ipod, ipad, a couple of kettlebells and some high quality but simple cooking supplies and you are all set. you can move with a couple of boxes and a couple of suitcases. eventually, you will settle down and have a family and then you will get more stuff.

I'm in the exact same scenario as you. Just graduated + accepted a development program that spans 2-3 years.

I know that in our company, they have a database of where the past participants of the program have stayed at. If possible, I'd inquire about that. Helps in identifying cheap and convenient locations people have already stayed at. Also if it's not just you that's going to be relocating, look into finding a roommate that's also in the program. Won't be much conflict at all since you two will share similar schedules.

What are you, like 50 years old? Assuming you're in your early twenties, spending some time moving around to different cities sounds like a pretty good experience.... unless you're in commodities or something that's only going to send you to BFE farm towns.
