Is that one of the original "if I stare at that long enough will I see it?" pictures?

Leave something there long enough ... and it will 'grow' on you.

I didn't think about it this way, but I agree. It would look off if it was a painting of a parrot.

It's a tough call especially with mixed feedback. It does seem to look better in a picture than in person - in person it just FEELS overbearing. It's really too bad since I quite love the painting. It's raised up along the surface, as much as an inch along the trunk in areas.

Maybe with that tiger rug it'll even it out a bit.

If it was anything but an elephant it would be too large.

Sofa against one wall and TV against the other? What are the odds?

Put some fatties on the sofa and re-take the picture. I'll make a big print and hang it behind my sofa.

Think that the painting matches the sofa that pretty much looks like the behind of an elephant.

I found this Gazelle lamp for you. This would give you the biggest, fastest, and fiercest mammals of the Sub-Saharan Africa food chain- a formidable trio of interior decor if I may say.

Elaborating a little more on this subject, what is the rule of thumb when it comes to paintings and room size? Also, about hanging such paintings, is there a proper height between floor and ceiling?

No, it's too overwhelmingly ugly.
