So I searched this first, but the threads are dated and I still haven't found a good source of the buttons I want to use.

I bought a navy sport coat (yes a sport coat, not orphaned suit), and I want to put higher contrasting buttons on. I was thinking either white or brown horn. Thoughts? It's a wool Zegna sport coat. I really like mother of pearl and the color white, but it's my only plain navy sport coat so I was thinking of going brown horn.

Any source for nice medium brown horn buttons?

It's getting to be warm weather, so white MOP would look great.

. But most of my sport coats are more summery than wintry.

I really can't find anything worthwhile. I found one seller on B/S, but he went missing

I had smoked MOP buttons sewn on my blue SC. Quite happy with them.

I replaced the gold buttons on a Navy PRL blazer with smoked MOP buttons from this ebay seller:

I'm very pleased with the result (coincidentally I'm wearing the blazer right now). Smoked MOP is a bit less high-contrast with Navy than white MOP.

I have used smoked MOP on several blazers and they look very smart all four seasons. However, they require attention when having the garment cleaned; otherwise, they chip.

So I just bought a RLBL Navy, peak lapel sport coat with silver buttons from the RL store and I'm not sure whether to keep the silver buttons. They offered to supply a set of buttons, but I told them I'd like to think about it first. I was thinking either light brown horn, medium brown horn, keep the silver, or maybe white MOP. The silver is okay, but my watch is gold and many of my belt buckles are gold colored... should I keep it anyway? It's a textured dark navy wool that I could wear through the winter as well, would white MOP be inappropriate?

I recently got some smoke MOP buttons from the Singapore site too. A tad expensive with shipping, but excellent buttons and a good experience. I bought them for a navy blazer.

My question: would big smoke MOP buttons look silly on outerwear? I liked them so much I want to replace the buttons on my wool winter coats with smoke MOP, but I haven't seen that before.

For wool I'd go with brown horn, MOP I'd use for cotton/linen

I have purchased both the light and the medium brown horn buttons from Benno's Buttons online and have been happy with them. They also have a few different MOP offerings. I have done the brown MOP on a blue jacket and liked that look too.

I can attest to the quality of the medium brown horn buttons, good stuff.

That being said, I have always liked the look of white MOP buttons on a navy SC. I wouldn't do it if it was my main SC, but for something different its nice.
