Brooks Brothers store annoyances - Page 5

I had a pretty bad experience at BB on conn ave. Went in looking to figure out my size and wanted to try on a few jackets. I've found that at my height (5'9), just about every sales person tries to put me in a 38R. I decide to slip on a 38S before the salesman gets to me, and I ask what he thinks. He immediately goes to look at the tag! I step away, and ask him to judge it on how it looks, not what size he guesses it should be. Well, that obviously didn't go over well. Later, I still felt the 38 was running a little big on me, and he insisted that I not even try on a 36. I just don't understand why a salesperson wouldn't take the 2 minutes per jacket to let me compare ?!? It was almost like they took it an insult to their judgement. Of course, the short looked better than the regular, and I would have ended up with the wrong size.

I find the staff in Houston to be pretty worthless. But Ive had bad experiences at other stores such as RL as well...so maybe retail joints in general are full of people who just dont give a sht.

The BB store in Plano, TX, and the Outlet in Allen, TX have ALWAYS treated me extremely well. Maybe its a southern thing....

i used to shop at a BB in southern california and even south coast plaza and received horrible service. I dress casually and whenever i walk in i never get approached or anything. I moved back to the bay area and the BB in santana row is one of the worst stores ive ever been to.

I asked to see their MTM fabrics and the sales associate sighed like why is this guy here and there were a few fabrics i liked and she made the situation extremely awkward in her sighing and looking around. I am 23 and still a young guy but I do like custom garments.

Another time i walked in and was looking for some wool trousers and on SA told me to go almost 2 sizes bigger than my waist and i was like you are joking right? and he said well your gonna try stuff on so might as well and I laughed and walked out. It was just the fact he was so ignorant about what he was trying to sell.

I am an assistant manager at a dept store and I know what customer service is all about and BB has none.

Bb runs more true in the waist than most brands so he may have been correct.

I do feel as though the Japanese sales assistants are generally better informed. I had a young female salesperson correctly determine I was more of a short than a regular in a jacket (I'm 5'9") before I even tried anything on. Even the older guy who obviously didn't like the look of the scruffy foreigner in his shop knew before I asked that I'd look better in a 38 for the Fitzgerald cut than the 37 I had assumed based on my experience with the Madison/Regent fits (though the jacket ultimately had other problems that made it a no-go).

Kind of a shame, really; the old guy had on a really awesome pair of chestnut-color semi-brogues and I wanted to ask who made them, but thought that would further compound the problem.
