Places to Stop in ND/MN/WI/MI?

I'm traveling from one side of Canada to other and will be passing through North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, mostly down I94 and I96/69. Is there anything worth checking out beyond my planned pillaging of any J Crew store I encounter?

I've got Context down as a possible stop, but I'm open to similar stores as well as any good vintage places worth stopping at. Same goes for any extraordinary restaurants/eateries along the way.

I'm looking to make good time on my trip but if there's anything sartorially or gastronomically interesting along the way for the old lady and I it would give us an excuse to take a break and play tourist.

Are you bypassing every Canadian province not worth passing through?

You mean something exists between Ontario and Alberta?

Aside from context, can't think of any decent places.

Sadly, this is quite accurate. You aren't going to find anything worthwhile without emptying your checking account in gas fares.

I can't think of any place worth stopping for.

Unfortunately, nothing much to speak of...I've lived in both ND and MN, and I have nothing to toss out. Maybe I'm thinking of a different path, but won't you go through Chicago as well?

In the Milwaukee WI area Allen Edmonds has production in Port Washington WI along with some outlet stores. They usually have a tent sale around this time of year but I could not find anything scheduled for 2011. I believe Russell moccasin has a store at their plant. http://www.russellmoccasin.com/ And check out Summerfest if you are in the Milwaukee area June 29- July 10. http://www.summerfest.com/flash2011/...odeString=home

No! Which is why it is so glaringly obvious that the US states you are passing through correspond perfectly to the Canadian provinces that are totally worthless. Mind you, I would include Montana in there and bypass most of Alberta as well.

Context, Ralph Lauren is in that mall in Michigan (Beaver Creek or something like that), Jcrew is in the same complex, and Chicago has some stuff.

Buy if you are heading to BC just take in the sights across the midwest and save the shopping for a trip to Seattle - there's no shortage there.

Funny. Anyway, Len Druskin in MN is a pretty great shop. A few locations in the Twin Cities with many Styleforum-approved brands.
