The zipper goes all the way around the button and up. There are 2 buttons on the middle compartment so the middle compartment is effectively a locked one if you zipper it up. I'll get pictures up asap. Hard to see in the photos, but there's a slight patina to the surface. This briefcase is awesome, but as I'm going back to become a poor graduate student I can't really justify keeping it (not that I had the stones to go to work with it in the first place). Comes with everything - key, shoulder strap, dust cover. Measures 15.25 inches x 11.25 x 4. Asking 350 obo shipped
