^^ it maybe worth it. assuming that your friend is visiting, he/she can claim VAT refund on the way out and that's anywhere between 10-17%. There's a store in Rome - Degli Effetti that's worth checking out. I don't remember if they carry Guidi but Augusta and CCP they do. May want to call them and ask.

kinda futile, if he can get the shoes shipped to usa from pnp for example then its same thing, pnp usually takes off 18% for vat

But there's a chance of a customs fee and getting held for weeks.

i actually just ordered from france and retailers are usually cool with marking things a bit down, my package came w/in 2 days, not bad. i did have problems before with dhl but never had customs fees.

Also their guidi, can be market as "old" boots :)

I checked out Degli Effetti's website it doesn't appear that they stock Guidi.

I'm basically just wondering if there is somehow for some reason less of a markup inside of Italy on the boots. I don't imagine that it's the case but sometimes it happens.

Some does it, most don't. If they declare it a low value and something happens to the package, they are pretty much screwed on it.

If I add up the customs fees I've paid in the past 2-3 years, I could buy myself a new pair of Augusta boots right now.

yikes that sucks, i havent had this issue and hope to not have it. so far most retailers i worked with have been pretty good about things. but dhl themselves slowed a few packages down

the reason they're growing on you isn't strange...they're awesome, so of course you'd like them...
but I'd still prefer ccp version of ccp boots

I was thinking the same thing- I need to just pick up a pair of tornado zips
