Though the idea still disgusts me a bit, after rethinking a bit I would assume they don't kill the baby horses for the leather. At least, I hope; I like to think natural causes and salvaging the remains....I'm probably being way too optimistic.

hope so

I personally like how Guidi refers to the calf leather as baby calf, as if to assure you that they did, in fact, slaughter an infant animal. Baby calf.

also folks remember we do eat "veal" and thats baby calf

Some of my motorcycle gear is made of that stuff along with kangaroo. Horsehide is more durable than cowhide.

Hockey skates used to be made of kangaroo. My dad still has the pair he used when he played in college and the leather has held up incredibly well (very soft now, of course). Not necessarily relevant to baller boots, but if anyone is wondering about the quality of kangaroo leather...

So I've been lurking this thread for a while but still don't really know much about shoes - especially repairs and maintenance. I should probably just take these to a cobbler but I don't know of any, let alone a good one. Anyway, could I expect for this scrape to be adequately repaired? I think it's actually mostly something that rubbed on to the leather rather than damage to the leather itself.

/\ Try rubbing it with leather cleaner and conditioner. It should come off since it doesn't look like the shoe surface was damaged/indented.
