What do you pay for that, just curious?

Finally found a good cobbler in Tokyo (http://www.union-works.co.jp/), but it's running me $80 a pair for heel and sole, which seems a little ridiculous.

mine was $45/$50 and the cobbler did a real good job, i always offer him cash to skip on taxes

While we're on the topic of cobblers/vibram, can anyone suggest a good one in NYC?

that looks ridiculous

Just wondering what the point is for adding the heel tap on the vibram heel? The vibram heel is pretty thick and isn't going to wear down any time soon and can just be replaced when it does wear down over time.

nicelynice i paid around $75 for a new heel and topy in seoul. it was a little high but he was the only cobbler that wasn't a shack on the side of the road

I dunno about all this hate on 10sei. My boots are awesome, have traveled the world with me and are extremely comfortable. When I was at Buttero in Guidi, the head designer thought my boots were Carpe, and he is buddies with Altieri. I wouldn't make such snap judgements against boots that it doesn't seem like barely anyone has tried on, let alone owned. Pictures don't tell the whole tale.

For me, I wear down heels really fast, regardless of their material.

Alessio from Layers-0 thought my Vass boots were really well-made and had a nice shape and he's one of the guys in this niche who actually knows a lot about leathers and shoe construction. On the other hand I don't feel like the products are interchangeable at all, I prefer simpler boots with cleaner silhouettes and don't wear any of the boots discussed here anymore, mainly going for products at the margin of MC wear (Corthay, Vass high boots, Massaro, Georg Materna etc.) or plain old designer boots (MMM, Balenciaga). If I wanted a Carpe/Layers-0/Guidi/CCP/Augusta etc boot I def wouldn't accept substitutes and would suck it up and pay the price for exactly what I wanted. You don't need 8 pairs, 2-3 is already enough for a very consequent wardrobe, especially if you add 2-3 pairs of sneakers.
