Tried on the archive's a1923 side zip (above), similar to one eck was going to order and must say it was an awesome boot. But big caveat is the creases that Simone made, the creases make it impossible to move your toes. The leather is super stiff. I almost warn against them, I doubt I could handle the break in period because I couldn't move my toes. but overall it was a very original and awesome boot, if i had an opportunity to get it at a lower price it would be a hard choice, it looks even better in person, also fyi those creases are rock hard so those boots will last a good 10+ years
Then i tried on 3 diff Guidi backzips, I fit into a 45 tight and a 46 loosely. FYI for sizing, double heel/sole version becomes much smaller due to raised platform. I want to like guidi, quality is def there, leather is awesome, but I just reaffirmed its like a sock. Both good and bad but at around 1k structure is a must for me. for those looking to get guidi, they are great boots for easy slip on and little break in period...
real nice guys at the archive...
Just wanted to echo the sentiments here on how stiff the leather is on these. I didn't try 'em on, but I was handling them at H Lorenzo a few weeks back and I was shocked how stiff they were. Shame they had to make such high quality leather so hard.
Also concur on the Guidi.. I'm a 9.5 and I had to go to size 45 and it was still snug. Definitely a leather sock. I'd be worried when my feet get sweaty they'd be chafing like crazy, but obviously they work for a lot of people..
