Picked up a pair of Layer-O 12.25's in Brownish (grey) Cordovan from Marco and Matteo at PNP-Firenze. Highly recommend them, the experience was professional and ridiculously quick shipping.

These pictures are not my best work but they'll have to do for now. The fit is TTS and fairly comfortable. Look forward to my next pair of boots, CCPs sid zips.

Enjoy

Thanks for posting these pics, jfclarky! I'm currently waiting for arrival of my pair.

A few things:

1) They're actually shell cordovan, which makes them even more special (all the other current Layer-0 offerings are "just" cordovan (and still fantastic; those natural cordovan ankle boots?!). I'm assuming if you're here, you are well aware of the difference.

2) I've had nothing but topnotch service from Marco and everyone else at PNP throughout every transaction. Case in point is this particular pair of boots. I contacted Marco to see if they had a pair in size 45. He replied that, regrettably, they did not order size 45. I expressed my disappointment. He emailed me back a few days later saying that he had called Alessio, and that Alessio told him he had enough of this particular shell cordovan left to make one pair in size 45. WTF? Of course I went with it, and now here I sit, wringing my hands with eager anticipation. Hence my deep appreciation for your photos.

3) Keep wearing them! They need some wear to break in well, and once they do, the fit is absolutely dreamy. I have two other pairs of Alessio's boots and they are extremely comfortable after being beaten on a bit.

4) ENJOY!

Take advantage of the weak AUD, as well as 10% off listed price due to GST.

Just got these:

Would be around 400USD ex. postage.

Tried on these Incarnations at Archive in SF and they were really nice. Leather (Guidi) was really soft yet thick, and had a nice matte finish. Very comfortable - easy to walk and move your ankle around. Also liked the silhouette and the color. Gonna see what the price on these is in Japan.. guessing it'll be cheaper than the ~$1600 at Archive.

Also checked out the A1923 Kudu's, which are one of my favorite designs. They didn't have my size but dayum that toebox was STIFF, almost rock solid. Guy at the store said they would break in but it looked like it would take many months of pain. The leather around the shaft was a lot more malleable.. wonder what kind of treatment they do to the toes on those.

Can you expand please.

I think by cordovan you mean regular horse leather, shell cordovan is a leather and cordovan is a color. see shell cordovan

Incarnation is carried by PNP: http://pnp-firenze.com/wp/product/incarnation-side-zip-boots/

Also, A1923 Kudu's are the way to go! The ones I have felt better after the first wear and took about 10-12 wears to ease up completely (not months and no pain). To note, the ones at Archive, besides back zips vs double side zips, have a wider toe-box and wider shaft than mine, and they are more matte. Material felt almost identical to me.

Most of what these brands make, including their clothing, get better after being worn a few times.

Incarnation boots had a really square toe box IMO. Not bad, but I prefer something more rounded. Really nice leather.

^^ yes i saw those at archive. Really squerish toebox - not a fan! Nice leather though!
