Best bang for the buck is buttero but unfortunately their best models are japan only releases. Their classic work boot is good and around 400 or so, you can find offiicine creative for less on yoox, not as good quality.

Next step up would be guidi but I don't like any of their lasts. Of course carpe is the best but impossible to find.

thanks for the buttero heads up, those are cool, but is barneys the only place i can find them at, i googled and not much... where do you guys find guidi and butteros? and other cool sw&d baller boots

seriously folks, there are a lot of footwear out there at a reasonable price, that are more than adequate in quality

it all depends on how many one has in rotation and how much often you wear your boots

i for one have over 10 boots in rotation, and even my shittiest quality ones have lasted more than 5 years, and they are still in good condition

having said that, if you are going to really going to wear your boots hard, then maybe spend a little more

Yeah but it seems he likes these ninja-y styles, and there's not many good budget versions of that.

If he's just after some decent SW&D zip boots or something there's plenty of other unmentioned brands (Paul Smith, Moma, F&B etc), but they're more suited to this thread

yeah, but then there's guys like Raz and Jet etc who have ervell and carpe in the same wardrobe and seem happy with it.

I honestly never wear my butteros cause i just can't mesh them with anything else in my wardrobe apart from leather + jeans, and i'm sick of that uniform. There must be ways of doing it interestingly but i'm just not creative enough i guess.

No price cap-Carpe Diem, Augusta, CCP, Attachment, WJK........

sub 1k-Guidi

sub500-Buttero

^Those are all good brands, but definitely different aesthetic than MMM and Jil. What exactly are you looking for?

I dunno used carpe, attachment/wjk/jun hashimoto (If you can find these) can easily fit under the 1k price cap. Julius is pretty reasonable used too though I don't like most of their offerings FW11 is sick though kinda lust after some sneaker boots in grey.

i've read poor reviews of officine which has made me hesitant, there are few items that looked interesting in stores but hearing about them falling apart after 6 months makes me think suspicious quality control.
