SS17 A1923 ST9 in Kudu just arrived from Holger/Hide[m]. Really happy with these as I've had more than my share sizing issues with Simone's zip boots; namely the dual zips. The Kudu used on these is quite nice; sort of has the thickness of horse but much softer. There is a certain sponginess to it.

Also joined team kudu late last week, props to Holger and Hide-M as always. Have to say this is the most impressed I've ever been with a pair of A1923 footwear, they are really well made and comfortable (proper heel cups!) with none of the fit issues (these are TTS!) I've had with them in the past.

Re show trees. I don't really use them especially on pre-distressed footwear with folds. What I do occasionally is put them in w/out shovin the in tightly just to dry the boot out. If you have the foldable shoe trees with a spring they bend easily and don't require force. But I rarely find this necessary.

Re Kudu a1923, those are really nice.

Am curious, who is a Size 44 or US11D in this forum?  So I can stalk them for their hand-me-downs :-)....

That's beautiful, man, thanks! :slayer:

Guys, thanks a lot for the feedback! It was great to see such awesome and varied colors of donkey leather, and to hear your experiences with this leather. Hopefully I will soon be sporting a pair of these:

Not even a little?...

it makes me appreciate CDiem all the more when comparing to others. Although the A1923's are nice, the CDeim's are much more refined in shape and proportions.

psidy, by your logic, all boots look similar.

My logic is based on the obvious premise that Simone isolates elements of CDiem, Poell, and MA+ (on a few occasions Layer-0) and makes Frankenstein boots and puts his name on them. Although construction and materials are good , the poor guy is incapable of originality that one can say, "Oh yeah that's all A1923".... Being inspired by maybe one similar element and incorporating it into a boot is fine and not so blatant but this guy goes too far IMHO.

just curious: how many of these boots, from the makers you listed, do you own?

and yes, seriously, I'm just curious, this is not a personal challenge of any kind. your answer might help me to better understand your perspective.

I personally owned 2 pairs of a1923 before I realized his plagiarism and was turned off by it. Not trying to diminish anyone's purchases, it's just my honest opinion about his work. If his footwear satisfy you, then it's all that matters in the end. They are well made.

BTW, I've owned boots from all the makers I listed.

When it comes to workboot, no one fucks with Simone. It takes just 1 quick glance and you know for sure it's A1923. Straight up original work.
