Um, well, I did just pick these up from everyone's favorite German seller. I had been pretty "blah" about a1923 recently (like many others, no doubt), but these got me right back on the bandwagon. These have a beautiful simplicity to them that really appeals to me. In fact, I haven't been able to stop wearing them long enough to get sole protectors put on them yet! Just some solid, full-grain, reverse horse in a really perfect grey color. No flash, no frills, just a great pair of boots that feel as solid as they should. Absolutely lovely.

okay, he did do this funny thing to the toes, but it is much more understated IRL.

Almost made me want to sign on for Atelier's new custom a1923 boot project, but there is something else in the works already that I think might be even more interesting. It does sound cool, though, what those guys are offering. I did notice that there was no expected delivery time provided in their announcement; 2018?

Yea those, just wondering about how agressive is the tank sole and etc, just give me your thoughts man.

It's just a sole, you can resole any Guidi boots (or, well, any boots I guess) with 'em if it suits you - I'm gonna do the same with mine next time I need a resoling. It looks better with the thicker leathers, I think - I prefer baby calf to horse.

It's more of a functional thing to me - do you plan on wearing them in the mud/snow/rain? I coat mine with Sno seal and they're fairly waterproof.

Rain probably, and I just like the tank sole look like on the above pics.

Those yours?

visually they just anchor the boot nicely for me, i like a nice heavy-bottomed boot and have always felt the non-v sole was a bit "light" [with the Z sole being an improvement over the non-Z models already].

and yeah, i personally go for the V soled options in the FW as they're more practical for pacific-northwestern weather.

I know they're not technically "baller" but I do love breaking out my MOTOs every fall. Made in Japan from Shinki Cordovan.

Not my pic, those are from Shelter II / Shelter V in Kobe

On a side note, why doesn't Tokyo have many good stores? I can count three - Lift, Gullam, and Boutique W. Kobe / Osaka has a much better selection for this style of stuff...
