Re: Marsel - tried few pairs and never liked the design nearly as much as the brands discussed here. Quality seemed fine though. Just be sure you like the design.

Would these boots hold up if you wore them 4-5 times a week?

Yes. 100%. No question about it.
Have you handled Augusta before?

FYI I have alternated everyday at work for the last 4yrs between my CCP bison derbys and my Augusta derbys and both are in perfect condition.
I re vibram soles and heels whenever needed. But there is no question they are built to last.

So from all my lurking:

Tier 1
CCP/Augusta/Carpe Diem

Tier 2
Japanese brands, Layer 0, MA+,

Tier 3
Guidi, Plokhov

And there are very little differences between the tiers, as in a large increase in price for a diminishingly smaller increase in quality.

ma+ is definitely "tier 1" and I believe layer-0 is as well. they are just different aesthetics

Because some are noticably more expensive than others, Guidi running at around 700 bucks while the tier 1s are much higher.

No tiers, no tears.

re: Augusta dead end zips; I've got the same boots as Eton, except in bison. I quite like them. The leather's actually flattened out a bit with wear; the wrinkling isn't as heavy as when I got 'em.
