I think the email is group sent. As far as items spoken for prior to the email going out is maybe due to local customers getting to them first or somebody called by phone to reserve the item.

Not so indestructible, I guess. The leather tore in several places when I tried the boots on. Of course it wasn't until afterward that I read shell can get brittle and prone to cracks and rips when dry. I guess sitting in a box for however long will do that. Anyway, they're at the cobbler now, being fixed. Thankfully the rips aren't in places that are visible when worn. So... any advice on what to use to condition them back to the point they can be worn? Cobbler suggested mink oil.

The only substance which touches my shell boots besides deer bone is saphir renovateur in small quantities.

+1 to saphir

in general its good to condition leather every here n there.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not planning to baby these things or anything, but I do need to get them to a state where I can wear them without worrying about the leather cracking. Folks in the CM shoe care thread suggested Bick4. Might try both that and Reno.

Oops! Not identical: I ordered reverse shell for the extra duskiness of it.

e: not sure how much i'd like linen over leather in a lighter color like those boots, though, might be a real bitch and a half to keep clean

I think that you've just gotta embrace that they are going to get dirty.  No sense in trying to keep them clean.  I;ve been thinking about getting a pair...

Yeah normally I'm all about letting lighter colored footwear get dirty but for some reason I feel like those would look better if they were kept clean.

that said...i still kind of want them...and hotoveli has them for a mere $860...

Anyone own the wholecut Guidis?  I understand they're pretty much true-to-size, but what should the half-sized people do?  Any good insoles so I won't crush my toes (I wear very thin socks too...)

No idea about color code; but it is simply stunning in person. Yes, it is the GY welt.
