maybe @curiouscharles has heard of aluminum cap toes in guidi.

Can't these guys just make a decent and complete online catalog listing all their models and options?  Why all the mystery??  Jeash.  I could have bought two pair instead of one if I'd spent a bit more time working instead of researching these damn boots.  :)

Because it's mostly for trade. It's only recently that the general public has cared about these details. There are pictures of the models on their website.

Might not be kosher depending on who sees it (my post in the leather jackets thread with a pic of a jacket I was selling just got deleted), but glad you posted it.. the color on those is just awesome. Anyone know if Layer 0 makes a slim-silhouette boot in this leather? I still haven't made the leap to the bigger upturned toebox..

upturned toe box evens out eventually and you'll get used to it, i love that my L0 have that up turn, look and feel is great. stepping is very natural.

For SWD, it's kosher to do it judiciously, for CM, not at all.  The cultures are pretty different.  However, the mods are not fully accustomed to this yet, so I'm sorry if it's a little inconsistent. They do through the mod queue, which gets really long, and they apply our criteria to it.  To have to to distinguish between SWD and CM is just an extra step that is easily missed.

I like those - the color looks really nice - but for me, unlike for a lot of you guys, it's hard to want a really upturned toe.  I am not into the sleek and elegant look of CM footwear, but I'm not really into the bulbous workwear look that is beloved here, either.  For me, guidi, with a toebox, represents a happy medium in which I am comfortable, but of course, I realize that I am perhaps in the minority.

Cheers,

Fok.

Because it doesn't fit the culture of the community.  The general consensus is that the B&S should be confined to B&S, and the B&S in that community moves, fast, so there is no need for a bolster.  The B&S community is much more in iine with that of the "older" forum culture.  The sellers are either getting things in bulk and selling in bulk, or truly just trying to get rid of stuff at bargain basement, pay if forward, community oriented, prices.  I've sold a few things to CM people for about 90% off the retail, just so someone else can have them, and because I didn't need them.  So, between those two groups, as opposed to the "I want the best price possible", much harder sells, in SWD, two very different B&S cultures have appeared.

There's also the "best of B&S" thread in CM, which is pretty useful. I think someone was doing SWD posts there for ... like a week, and then stopped, which is too bad.
