I thought that the interview with Simone was not that bad, but I literally LOLd when the interviewer asked Simone what was his take on other designers copying his stuff :D

Oh let's not go there anymore. Topic has been beat to death.

I did not see anything too interesting on his showroom pics for ss/fw16

Much better written and laid out. I hope one day they have a shoe off to determine who the "best in the world" actually is.

I think that kind of competition would be more of an ultra-marathon than a sprint. And come to think of it, perhaps we're all in it already. The only problem is the impossibility of actually declaring a winner, given the extremely subjective nature of the judgments being made. That seems like a big part of the raison d'être of this thread, a fact for which I'm eternally grateful.

I was actually kidding, in response to the Simone article calling him the best shoemaker in the world. Pretty sure menswear cobblers would probably have either of them beat....

Imo all that really matters is your personal preference. Personally not a person who will choose a consensus best over my personal preference best ;p

Brand suggestions for really tall laced boots (like 33 cm) that don't have zippers?

Also a shameless plug, trying to sell my CDiem boots (size 41, fits 41 or 41.5).

http://www.styleforum.net/t/517158/carpe-diem-7-hole-boots-size-41-fits-41-41-5

It's listed at $575 but I'm willing to hear offers and such.
