that sub needs more people from our thread to review this type of footwear so far i've seen like 20 threads on red wings and viberg... snooooozzzzz, adding the stuff from this thread would be a nice touch.

my reddit reviews:
Layer-0 https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/comments/3ytuaw/layer_0_boot_review_album_in_comments/
A1923 - https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/comments/3zaln2/a1923_fw14_culatta_dual_zip_boot_st3_review/

Or just like, review them here.  You are allowed to start new threads, you know?

Lets have a convo about that, i don't see the benefit of what you are suggesting. Why start a separate thread just for one pair? I posted pics in this thread and people chat about it. Things got the attention. I do think it would be nice to be able to find a review and pics on specific items since the brands we discuss in this thread release items that don't get remade.

I suggest SF start a "reviews" section under men's style, then i can go and read reviews vs things being lost in the threads somewhere.

tbh, I don't like fragmenting the forums unless there is a clear, grassroots reason to do so.  The former affiliate threads are there because people asked for them, and the preorders were starting to dominate CM.  The Career and job listings will probably be subsumed into our careers subsection very shortly.

Reviews though?  I dunno.  I think that it would be cool, but would you, for example, be willing to seed this forum with them, and if they gain any traction, we'll move them over?  Our experience has been that the forums that are the most successful as subforums always start off that way.

It's nearly impossible, ime, to create a successful forum top down "Post reviews here", unless there is a culture of reviews threads that have been adopted.  It often just takes a handful of members.  If you are willing to spearhead that, I'd be willing to monitor it closely, and say, consider this after, say, a few weeks.  This particular thread, for example, would seem to benefit from that - having general discussions here, but with another section for more specific (open ended) reviews of specific items.

Cheers,

Fok.

fok,

between work and a kid i barely find time to write the reddit ones.

how do you envision this? Are you suggesting i start putting up reviews in separate threads under sw&d?

FYI, i always try my best to snap good pics and post to SF of items i believe don't have much info online, see RO thread for stooges reviews, this thread for boot reviews. I mean its fun and i enjoy it just dont know if i can commit.

Bison in color 12 would rock!

@eton97 sold a pair in black horse a while back, he has most info.

@LA Guy I didn't really find the need to post the review here. I've already talked about my impressions of m_moriabc before plus most of the people reading the thread are already familar with the brands. If someone is unfamiliar with a brand, they always post asking for people's experiences or thoughts on it.

to add, same opinion here and i felt the reddit community could benefit from seeing other things than the regular classics.

Essentially, yes.

No long term commitment is needed.  That never works.  But a "seed" of say, 10 reviews between different users might be enough for us to at least experiment.

Ultimately, it has to be because people want to do it, for themselves and for other members of the community, and not because I ask them to do it.  I do think that for our more casual readers/less knowledgeable ones, a review thread on its own would be less daunting than a very social, very long, thread.  I've been sent numerous PMs and emails specifically about this.  So is it something that the core community wants?  Maybe, maybe not.  Probably not for people already actively posting in this thread.  But for the guys who come in here are are like "Um... should I ask?"  it's a resounding yes.  Those people would really benefit.

Cheers,

Fok.

How're y'all planning on resoling your m_moriabcs?  Not sure how many cobblers can have wood pegs laying around?  Also is it officially now m_moriabc?  Before I thought it was m_moria and before that there was the Mem_mo_ries or Memoria or something?

I don't know about the name stuff but I've sent mine to Willie's Shoe Service in LA.

They always do a great job.
