Bayfields on sale on Amazon, mostly wide and narrow sizes, $150-165, wotta deal. I already have them in brown, couldn't resist getting a pair in black. AE can be hit-or-miss from Amazon in terms of defects, but these are perfect.

Wherever they are from, they should stay there.

I have a pair of Bayfields in brown and love them. I got them from Lands End for $210 when they had a 40% sale. In fact I just called them last week when they were running another 40% sale because I wanted to get a pair in black but they don't carry the black, only the brown.

I actually have been looking for a decent tan/gorse brogue boot. Trickers are too much $$, the AE dalton looks not great on their website (kind of cheap looking compared to other shoes). If anybody has any suggestions, I would really really really love to know.

Does anybody have any ideas on where I should look, what I should go for, or who I should turn to?

I really don't even know where to start.

Save up and get the Indy.

You'll be happier in the end.

Find the indy itself a bit clunky in person, so wouldn't want to save up and spend it on that instead of on something else. But as I said, im looking for something different now.

AS Dumfries make a nice alternative to Tricker's Stowe boot, with a much better price to quality ratio IMO. They have an all leather heel, though, which can be a bit treacherous, so I suggest putting a topy there.

Just get the Indy.  Or Tricker's Stow.  Or C&J Northcote or Snowdon.  All more than $300.  But if you are patient enough on B&S and FeeBay...

I love my Loake Litchfields:http://www.afinepairofshoes.co.uk/collections/loake-1880/products/loake-litchfield

If you really want tan, maybe look at the Loake Bedale (rubber sole) or Burford (leather):

The Burfords are GBP180 - 20% VAT = 144 or about $229. A Fine Pair of Shoes currently ships them with free shoe trees. Shipping to US isn't cheap but it still brings you in under $300.
